Preparing

for my
Baptism
We are so excited that you will be getting baptized soon! We
are very proud of you for the decision you have made to be
baptized. We hope your baptism day is a very special one.
Please review the information in this booklet with your parents.
You will be in charge of assigning someone to give the opening
and closing prayers. If you would like, you may also include a
special musical number.

Parents-
We recognize the children who are baptized by spotlighting
them in Primary the following day. Please bring a few things
from home that describe your child: his/her likes and dislikes,
hobbies, etc. and tell the children a little about your son/daugh-
ter. This will take place in the Primary room the day after the
baptism, (on Sunday) at 11:05. We appreciate all that you have
done to help your child prepare for this special day!

If you have questions regarding your baptism please contact

Sister Emily Braegger at 546-1049.

Congratulations!!!

Love,

The Primary Presidency

Baptismal Covenant
When you are baptized, you become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints. Baptism also means that your sins are forgiven and
you are prepared to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. When you are
baptized you make a covenant with Heavenly Father which consists of
promises that each of you make.
I promise to: Heavenly Father promises to:
Take his name upon me Forgive me when I repent
Always remember him Give me the gift of the Holy Ghost
Keep the commandments Let me live with him forever
Endure to the end
Remember to always take your baptismal covenant seriously.
(The word “TAKE” can help you remember what you promised!)

Confirmation
After you are baptized, you will be confirmed a member of Christ's true church.
This is an important ordinance because you are given the gift of the Holy Ghost
which will help you make good decisions throughout your life.
The Holy Ghost can:
Speak to you in a still, small voice that only you can hear
Let you know right from wrong, good from evil, truth from error
Warn you of danger
Comfort you when you are frightened, lonely or in trouble
Give you understanding of sacred things
Tell you that God lives and loves you
Help you make wise choices

The Sacrament
Each Sunday when you partake of the sacrament, you
renew the covenants you made when you were baptized.
Listen to the prayers and think about the promises you
made with your Heavenly Father. This is also a good
time to think about Jesus and the sacrifice
He made for you.
