From a modest show in 1953 with four categories that lasted for less than a couple of hours, the Filmfare Awards has evolved into a glamorous event watched by millions on television. With its rich legacy, the Filmfare Black Lady remains the piece de resistance on every Bollywood actor, director and producer's shelf. n an evening of glitz and good cheer, the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 were presented at the newly set up Reliance MediaWorks Studio in the sylvan environs of Film City. The nominations encompassed several films that had attempted to tread a fairly unbeaten path-Rockstar, The Dirty Picture, No One Killed Jessica, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Delhi Belly. As it turned out, Zindagi... cleared the course by winning seven trophies, followed by Rockstar with five and Delhi Belly with four. The Dirty Picture picked up three.

The 57th Filmfare Awards (2012) will be held at FilmCity (Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari) at Goregaon (East), Mumbai 400065. To get to Filmcity take the Aarey Road from the Western Express Highway.

The Filmfare Awards ceremony is a By Invitation Only ceremony. Tickets or passes can not be bought for the 57 Filmfare Awards. The organizers send out invitations to Filmfare nominees, media personals, prominent personalities from the film world and prominent persons from various fields (politicians, govt officials, business persons, etc). The official sponsors (like Idea) have been allocated a number of passes to distribute to their employees and business partners. If you are looking for a pass or a ticket to the Filmfare Awards function on Jan 29, your best bet is to approach one of the sponsors of the event. One of the problems with this years Filmfare ceremony is that the venue is smaller than the venue for previous years. As a result fewer people can be invited for the 2011-2012 Filmfare awards. This will leave many people disappointed. The sponsors and organizers are under a lot of pressure for tickets / passes to the event.

The 57th Idea Filmfare Award 2011 ceremony took place on January 29, 2012, at Reliance Mediaworks Studios,Filmcity, Mumbai. This years awards was hosted by Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Although their initial jokes were a little flat, they got into the groove quickly and were terrific thereafter. They made a lot of fun of each others movies and SRK said the Khans (he, Salman, Aamir) were the best, whereas RK insisted that the Kapoors were the best. At one point Vidya Balan came on stage to help decide. In the middle of the show SRK and RK took a break during which time Ali Zafar and Miss India Kanishtha took over hosting duties. Both of them could not match up to SRK-RK and it was a pleasure to see Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor back on stage. Sharukh Khan dominated the proceedings with his wit and Ranbir played a good sidekick to him.

The Filmfare Awards are one of Indias oldest and most respected Hindi Film Awards. The Filmfare award started in 1954. Both the general public and a committee of experts vote for the Filmfare Awards.
