John Terry John George Terry (born 7 December 1980) is an English footballer. Terry plays in a centre back position and is the captain of Chelsea in the Premier League. Terry was also captain of the England national football team from August 2006 until February 2010.

Terry was voted best defender in the UEFA Champions League in both 2005[2] and 2008, the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2005,[3] and was included in the FIFPro World XI for four consecutive seasons, from 2005 to 2008.[4][5][6][7] He was also named in the all-star squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the only English player to make the team.[8] He wears the number 26 shirt for Chelsea.

In 2007, he became the first captain to lift the FA Cup at the new Wembley Stadium in Chelseas 10 win over Manchester United, and also the first player to score a full international goal there, scoring a header in Englands 11 draw with Brazil.[9] However, the 200708 season saw Terry and Chelsea miss out on three trophies, losing the League Cup Final to Tottenham Hotspur and Premier League and UEFA Champions League to Manchester United with Terry missing a penalty in the Champions League final shootout, sending it to sudden death. Had he scored, the European Cup would have been secured for Chelsea.[10] After the final in Moscow, teammate Frank Lampard described Terry as "a man's man". Career statistics

Javier Mascherano Javier Alejandro Mascherano (Spanish pronunciation: [mateano+, Italian pronunciation: *maskerano+; born 8 June 1984 in San Lorenzo) is an Argentine footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Liverpool and captain of the Argentine national team.

Mascherano began his career in at River Plate. He earned his first senior honours in 200304, winning the Primera Divisin Argentina. He also won an Olympic gold medal with Argentina in the Athens Games and finished runner up in the Copa Amrica 2004. He moved to Brazilian side Corinthians in 2005, winning the Brazilian Srie A in his first season. Mascherano moved to Europe, signing for Premier League side West Ham United. However, unusual contract terms with Media Sports Investments blighted his brief time at the club and at the beginning of 2007 he joined Liverpool on loan.

He was runner up in the UEFA Champions League in his first season on Merseyside and again finished runner up in the Copa Amrica with Argentina. He officially signed for Liverpool in February 2008 for 18.6 million, parting ways with Media Sports Investments. He won a second Olympic gold medal with

Argentina in the Beijing 2008 Games, the first male footballer to achieve this since 1928. He was appointed captain of the national team by new head coach Diego Maradona in November 2008 whom has repeatedly stated that his selection is "Mascherano and 10 more".[2]

Mascherano's two most used nicknames (in Argentina) are Masche and El Jefecito (The little chief).[3][4] Former Argentine footballers Jorge Valdano and Jorge Solari regard him as possibly the best central midfielder in the world.[5][6]

He is considered a key part of the national side by coach Diego Maradona who stated that his team is now just Jonas, Mascherano, Messi and eight more. Career statistics Up to date, as of February 26, 2010.Club Others Total App Goals App Goals App Season Premiership FA Cup League Cup Europe

Lionel Messi Lionel Andrs Messi (Spanish pronunciation: *ljonel andes mesi]; born 24 June 1987) is an Argentine footballer who currently plays for Barcelona and the Argentine national team. Considered one of the best football players of his generation[3][4][5] and frequently cited as the world's best contemporary player,[6] Messi received several Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year nominations by the age of 21 and won both by the age of 22.[6][7][8][9] His playing style and ability have drawn comparisons to Diego Maradona, who himself declared Messi his "successor".[10][11]

Messi began playing football at a young age and his potential was quickly identified by Barcelona. He left Rosario-based Newell's Old Boys's youth team in 2000 and moved with his family to Europe, as Barcelona offered treatment for his growth hormone deficiency. Making his debut in the 200405 season, he broke the La Liga record for the youngest footballer to play a league game, and also the youngest to score a league goal. Major honours soon followed as Barcelona won La Liga in Messi's debut season, and won a double of the league and Champions League in 2006. His breakthrough season was in 200607; he became a first team regular, scoring a hat-trick in El Clsico and finishing with 14 goals in 26 league games. Perhaps his most successful season was the 200809 season, in which Messi scored 38 goals to play an integral part in a treble-winning campaign.

Messi was the top scorer of the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship with six goals, including two in the final game. Shortly thereafter, he became an established member of Argentina's senior international team. In 2006, he became the youngest Argentine to play in the FIFA World Cup and he won a runnersup medal at the Copa Amrica tournament the following year. In 2008, in Beijing, he won his first international honour, an Olympic gold medal, with the Argentina Olympic football team. Ronaldo currently holds the distinction of being the most expensive player in football history after being transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid in a transfer deal worth 80 million (94m, US$132m). In addition, his contract with Real Madrid, in which he is to be paid 11 million per year over the following six years, makes him the highest paid football player in the world.[3]

Ronaldo began his career as a youth player for Andorinha, where he played for two years, then moved to Nacional. In 1997, he made a move to Portuguese giants Sporting CP. Ronaldo's precocious talent caught the attention of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson and he signed the 18-year-old for 12.24 million in 2003. The following season, Ronaldo won his first club honour, the FA Cup, and reached the Euro 2004 final with Portugal, in which tournament he scored his first international goal.

In 2008, Ronaldo won the Champions League with United, and was named player of the tournament. He was named the FIFPro World Player of the Year[4] and the FIFA World Player of the Year, in addition to becoming Manchester United's first Ballon d'Or winner in 40 years.[5] Three-time Ballon d'Or winner Johan Cruyff said in an interview on 2 April 2008, "Ronaldo is better than George Best and Denis Law, who were two brilliant and great players in the history of United."[

He had secured a place in the first team by the 199798 season, and the following year helped the team finish 5th in the Premier League, their highest ever Premier League placing. In 2001, he moved to rival London club Chelsea for 11 million.

He signed a new contract in 2008, becoming the highest paid Premier League footballer at that time,[8] and scored in his first Champions League Final that same year. He won the FA Cup for the second time in 2009, scoring the winning goal in the final. On 23 December 2009, he was named the Premier League's Player of the decade by official statistics.[9]

Lampard has won the Chelsea Player of the Year award three times and is Chelsea's 3rd all-time goalscorer with 157 goals in all competitions, including over 100 league goals, the most in the club's history for a midfielder. Lampard is the highest goalscoring midfielder in Premier League history with 129 league goals[10] and he's 2nd in the Premier League's all-time assists table with 156 assists[11]. Also Lampard averages completes over 1400 successful passes and 10 or more assists every season[12]. In 2005, Lampard was voted PFA Fans' Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, also he came second in both the 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year and the 2005 Ballon d'Or.

Internationally, Lampard has been capped 80 times by England since making his debut in October 1999, and has scored 20 goals. He was voted England player of the year for two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005. He played in Euro 2004, where he was named in the team of the tournament after scoring three goals in four games. He was top scorer for England in their successful 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign with five goals, and played in the 2006 World Cup. David Villa David Villa Snchez (Spanish pronunciation: *dai ia]; born 3 December 1981), nicknamed El Guaje (The Kid in Asturian),[3] is a Spanish footballer who plays as a striker for Barcelona[4][5] and Spain.

Despite sustaining a serious injury as a child, he started his professional career with Sporting de Gijn and made his debut in 2000 in Spain's Segunda Divisin. He moved to Real Zaragoza after two seasons, after a total of 38 goals and 80 appearances for Gijn. He made his La Liga debut at Zaragoza and scored

31 goals in 73 appearances in the next two seasons, winning the Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espaa, his first senior honours. He joined Valencia in 2005 for a transfer fee of 12 million. He was the second highest scorer in the 200506 season with 25 goals, and was part of the Valencia team that won the Copa del Rey for a second time in the 200708 season. Diego Forln Diego Martn Forln Corazo (Spanish pronunciation: *djeo forlan]; born 19 May 1979 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan footballer who currently plays for La Liga club Atltico Madrid and the Uruguayian national team, as a striker. He is a two-time winner of both the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe.

Forlan was born into a family of footballers, his father Pablo having played for Uruguay in the 1966 and 1974 FIFA World Cups and his grandfather, Juan Carlos Corazo, for Independiente in Argentina. Forlan joined Independiente after rising through their youth team, and after a succesful four year spell signed for Manchester United. Forlan's two-year stint in the Premier League saw him fail to achieve the form he held at Independiente, and he was signed by La Liga side Villarreal.

In his first season in Spanish football, Forlan scored 25 league goals and won the Pichichi Trophy. After two more succesful seasons with Villarreal, Forlan joined Atltico Madrid, where he once again became the league's top scorer, and became the first player to win the Pichichi Trophy twice since Ronaldo achieved this feat in 2003-04.

Forlan also has a successful international career, in which he has scored 26 times for his country. He has scored at both the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, in which he scored twice against the host nation.
