ANALYZING PILOT POLLUTION WITH GPEH DATA

Pilot Pollution Analysis feature Identify network polluter and polluted cells through the analysis of Ericssons GPEH Recording log. Xeus Pro by Aexio has the ability to import and analyze GPEH recording data via its GPEH Traffic Measurement Recording module. One of the main features in the module is automatic Pilot Pollution analysis, which is discussed further below.

Overview:
The Pilot Pollution Analysis feature leads users to cells that cause the biggest interference in the network or cells that are most interfered with in the network. Pilot Pollution Analysis is based on the SHO Replacement event. For each SHO replacement, the best server is considered as the polluted cell and the neighbor that was added is considered the polluter. This means, the information used to determine a cells pilot pollution is based on live traffic recordings. Xeus Pro GPEH Traffic Measurement Recording Module presents the Pilot Pollution Analysis results to users both in a graphical map view and in a spreadsheet form for easy analysis. The data can be sorted according to the worst polluters or by cells experiencing the most pollution. This gives optimization engineers access to crucial network information that can be used to improve the performance of a WCDMA network. Pre-requisite for Pilot Pollution Analysis: 1. Network Site Data A complete set of site data is needed in order to perform good pilot pollution analysis. Network parameters of RNC ID and CID are used for the cell matching with GPEH logs. Site configurations such as antenna height, antenna azimuth, antenna tilting is useful for the analysis. Table 1 below summarizes the type of network data that Xeus Pro supports File Types Xeus Network Interchange File MCOM 4.x & MCOM3G Network Text Files Description Parse Xeus Network Interchange File (.xif) Import site, carrier and neighbor text database for MCOM GSM 4.x and MCOM 3G TEMS CEL File Parse TEMS GSM/WCDMA CEL File Ericsson WCDMA OSS Bulk CM XML File Parse Ericsson Bulk CM XML file exported from OSS. 2. GPEH Recording Log A large set of GPEH recording will provide good analysis of the live network. However, data parsing capabilities is dependent on the size of the recording file.

Each GPEH recording Log contains 15 minutes of recording. 3 hours of recording during busiest traffic period is recommended. The following table below suggests GPEH events that should be collected in order to perform good analysis. Recommended GPEH Event to be collected

2. Load pilot pollution details into workbench. Group the pilot pollution cells by polluter. Sort the cells by polluter counts. In the example shown above, both ABC00376A1 and ABC00526C1 have the most count on polluting to other cells. The average RSCP shows high values as well.

3. Switch to map view. Click and highlight on the cell in the workbench table. Map will auto sync to the selected cell location. The values in yellow box shows the soft handover replacement event count. Cell ABC00376A1 is overshooting 3.5km to ABC00757.
