Required Qualifications and Skills: A masters degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or related field. Three - Five years of experience post-masters (4+ preferred) managing volunteer student staff in a higher education setting. Experience advising student organizations preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a personal commitment to and a passion for social justice education, student development, and service learning. Candidate must have strong organizational skills; ability to work within diverse group setting; refined interpersonal skills; and flexibility with varied work situations. Work schedule includes some nights and weekends, and candidate must have valid drivers license and insurable driving record. Position Function and Responsibilities The role of the Associate Director is to support the Office of Student Leadership & Service staff and Director in leading an extensive and robust community engagement portfolio. As a primary responsibility, this position manages all aspects of the Volunteer Emory (VE) program, providing the Emory community with service opportunities that promote learning about self and society while meeting the needs identified by agency partners. Additionally, this role will continue to help connect the value of leadership education in service endeavors, and the importance of service in the work of leadership. This position reports to the Assistant Dean and Director, Office of Student Leadership & Service. Provide leadership to University-wide working groups and committees on Community Engagement, including extensive collaboration with the Center for Community Partnerships. Initiate and manage intentional, strategic partnerships within and outside of the Emory community. Manage all aspects of a $200,000 budget, including income and programmatic allocations, for community engagement initiatives. Provide leadership for a multi-year development and fundraising campaign for Volunteer Emory. Support the integration of community engagement into programs

throughout the Office and Division. Engage faculty in social justice and community engagement initiatives. Supervise an 8 person leadership team and 25+ student staff of Volunteer Emory to achieve the following: o Manage the implementation of all VE programs, including: 30+ weekly service trips; four large-scale service day events; publications; volunteer fairs; social justice dialogues; and donation drives. o Facilitate the Agents of Change Curriculum with Volunteer Emory staff. o Expand capacity and responsibility of student staff to manage, plan, and coordinate weekly service trips and major service days. o Design and implement relevant leadership and logistical trainings for VE staff and other leaders o Design and implement appreciation programs and initiatives to celebrate the work of VE staff and other servant leaders o Liaise between Emory University and its (potential or current) service-related agency partners o Manage the VE agency partner database o Work with OSLS staff and Volunteer Emory staff to offer student leader trainings related to social justice education, planning/coordinating service events, working with agency partners, etc. o Supervise website development, including maintenance and design. o Manage a fleet of four vans for transportation to community engagement related experiences. o Track community engagement metrics throughout the year for various reporting processes throughout the institution. Supervise two professional staff members: o Assistant Director for Alternative Breaks and Student Organizations: Support divisional strategic goals of increasing participation in Alternative Breaks; Assist in the development of comprehensive student organization training and support systems o Site Manager, Jumpstart: Support the execution of the AmeriCorps Grant Program focused on early childhood education Expand risk management frameworks and practices throughout the Office of Student Leadership & Service related to both student organizations and community engagement initiatives. Advise Emory community members in service project organization tasks and processes. Advise service-related student organizations when possible, including contract negotiations. Conduct at least one community engagement assessment project annually while supporting the Division of Campus Life in advocating the impact of community engagement on student learning.

Conduct strategic and long-range planning for OSLS activities. Other duties as assigned.
