he annual cosmetex conference, which brings together many cosmetic and plastic surgeons, dermatologists, cosmetic physicians and nurses has become the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere in the area of cosmetic surgery and cosmetic medicine. earlier this month, more than 1,100 cosmetic surgeons, practitioners and exhibitors descended on cairns to attend the four-day conference hosted by the Australasian college of cosmetic surgery (Accs) and the cosmetic physicians society of Australasia (cpsA). with a strong faculty of keynote speakers hailing from the us, canada, the uK, italy and switzerland, attendees were witness to many informative and often interactive sessions, including the international interactive forum on face, chaired by Queenslands dr John flynn and featuring

conferences exhibition hall, cosmetex 2012 was a great success for all involved. from Queenslands tropical north to the cultural hub of Australia, cosmetex is heading south in 2013. due to be held in Melbourne in April 2013, next years event is gaining momentum, and canadian plastic surgeon dr Arthur swift is already confirmed as a keynote speaker. having practiced plastic surgery since 1984, dr swift is famed amongst industry peers for his aesthetic appreciation. he is perhaps best well-known for championing nonsurgical facial rejuvenation through innovative use of cosmetic injectables. Accompanied by what will no doubt be a diverse range of presentations, panel discussions and an even larger exhibit hall, the countdown to Melbourne is now on. csbm

renowned speakers, dr corey Maas, dr danny rousso, dr Ava shamban and dr nowell solish. during the conference, the Accs launched their coveted code of practice seal, which can only be used by members and affiliate members of the college. speaking at the conference, college president dr colin Moore highlighted the importance of the seal. prospective patients will be able to see at a glance that the doctor with whom they are considering undergoing a procedure practices under a set of strong professional and ethical standards. with more than 69 companies and organisations showcasing their products and services within the
