Technological advances continue at a rapid pace. The marketplace of products and ideas is increasingly global. There is more competition for skilled workers in all industries. The workplace in Year 2020 will require even greater skills and competencies.
IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS THE DISTRICT HAS COME A LONG WAY...
We charted a course 267.5 degrees west to significantly improve the quality of instruction and raise student achievement.
2. Improved the quality of instruction. 3. Transformed principals into instructional leaders. 4. Created a culture of instructional feedback. 5. Aligned the Districts curriculum with the State standards. 6. Expanded leadership capacity. 7. Aligned the budget to fund the priorities of the District. 8. Changed the teacher recruitment and retention paradigm to ensure we hire and retain the best and brightest teachers. 9. Implemented the most rigorous teacher pay-for-performance system in the nation.
We must do more...
We need to improve the Districts graduation rate. Many of our students are not reading, writing or doing math at grade level. The proficiency level of some of our high school graduates is too low. There is a lack of accountability for some students and some parents. We need to do more to leverage community support.
VISION
GRADUATE COLLEGE & CAREERREADY STUDENTS BY YEAR 2016
GOALS
1. 90% of our students will graduate from high school on time. 2. 70% of the students graduating will be considered college and career-ready by Year 2016. 3. 70% of our students will enter college, a trade school or the military directly from high school.
