The Interact Club and Ballantyne Rotary Club would like to invite you to the 2nd Annual Teacher's Cup Tonight Friday, March 8th AK Gym 5:00 pm 8:00 pm Come cheer on our Mighty Knight Faculty Volleyball Team: David Switzer, Lori Lang, Chad Cable, Zoe Bell, Kelly & Tim Higgins, Anna Cameron, Sig Arnesen and Jason McCutcheon. Event is $5.00 and that includes hot dogs and drinks. We will serve hotdogs until we run out! Please come support this event! Ardrey Kell High School is producing the uplifting musical, Oklahoma! The problem with this cute couple is that neither will admit that they like the other. Before they get hitched and have to overcome a variety of obstacles, including cowmen and ranchers, who constantly fight with each other. The flirty Gertie, who has her cap set for Curley and Jud, a dangerous farmhand who has a fixation with Laurey. Will love win out, or will the obstacles that separate Laurey and Curly prove too much to overcome?

Ticket sales to the public began Wednesday, March 6 at www.carolinatix.org. Tickets will be sold at the door each evening (as available).

Tickets sold during Pre-Sales and online through www.carolinatix.org will be assigned seating. We will sell student tickets in the Mall area during lunch the week of the show (March 18th,19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd). These Student Tickets ($7) will be unassigned seating in the upper side sections of the Theatre. This will enable Students to purchase a seat and sit wherever they want in this section.

National Honor Society - Membership Process The membership process for National Honor Society will begin next week. All juniors with a 3.0 unweighted GPA will receive a letter in homeroom on Monday inviting them to an informational meeting. This meeting will be held on Thursday, March 14th in the auditorium during homeroom. Students must bring their letter to the meeting in order to be admitted. A make-up meeting will be held on Monday, March 18th at 6:35 am in the media center. Attendance at one of these meetings is mandatory in order to participate in the membership process. Membership in National Honor Society is based on scholarship, character, leadership and service. The School Leadership Team has put together a homework survey for parents to complete. The team would like your feedback on the amount and quality of homework your child is assigned. We encourage you and your child to take the survey together and discuss each of the questions. Please try to complete the survey by Thursday, March 14th. North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) Course Applications are now available Students interested in taking an NCVPS should stop by Student Services and ask for Mrs. Rogers for an application. All NCVPS courses are to be taken as a 9th block class meaning that they will be taken outside the normal school hours and in addition to a full course load at Ardrey Kell. The course will show up on the students schedule as a 5 th block class. There is no guarantee that students will receive the course(s) that they request. Students may only take courses that are NOT offered at Ardrey Kell on our approved list and they MUST have met all pre-requisites. Students will not receive support from Ardrey Kell teachers. Failure to meet deadline dates below will result in non-participation in the program.

1. All Applications must be picked up from Mrs. Rogers no later than May 15, 2013 for the

2013-14 school year. 2. After all signatures are obtained they will return the form to Mrs. Rogers by 2:30 p.m. May 17, 2013. Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted. No Exceptions! 3. Students who are successfully registered in a Virtual Course will be REQUIRED to attend an Orientation Session on Friday, August 23rd . (Time and Location TBA) Failure to attend this session will result in a drop from the class. NO EXCEPTIONS EVEN IF THE STUDENT IS OUT OF TOWN OR OUT OF THE COUNTRY. (Students who took a NCVPS course this year will NOT have to attend but they must e-mail me BEFORE August 26th to get their log in information.) 4. Virtual Classes begin on Monday, August 26, 2013.

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) invites all sophomores, juniors and seniors to the National College Fair coming to Charlotte. Visit www.nationalcollegefairs.org for the most updated list of colleges.

Admission representatives from hundreds of colleges and universities are available to speak with students one-on-one concerning the college admission process and college life in general. All college fairs include a counseling and resource center comprised of skilled professionals and partners who can assist parents and students. Workshops are held to address testing, the college application process, and other topics of significance in the college search process.

HONDA RAFFLE The Ardrey Kell Booster Clubs are selling raffle tickets for a brand new 2013 Honda Civic. The drawing for the raffle is Saturday March 23rd at the AK Spring Fest. You do not have to be present to win the car. Tickets are $20 each. Ardrey Kell Athletic Booster 7th Annual Golf Tournament Please come out and enjoy a day of golf, food, prizes and fun while supporting the Athletic Booster Club Monday, April 15, 2013 Providence Country Club 1:00 Shotgun start. 11:45 a.m. Registration $125 (includes golf, lunch, dinner, prizes & more) Limited to first 120 golfers. Hurry to secure your spot. Deadline is Monday, April 8, 2013 Senior Build-Up We are in the lead!!!! Please dont forget that we are still collecting for our Senior Classs Senior Build-Up project!! Ardrey Kell JROTC Knights' Court School Beautification Project The Ardrey Kell MCJROTC is still taking orders for brick purchases for our Knights Court walkway, located in the front of our school. Bricks cost $50 and include three lines of engraving. A perfect way to leave a legacy for your student, past or present, or simply as a family brick! Makes a great senior gift! Attention Seniors: The People Helping People Scholarship is a $10,000 Scholarship given through the State Employees Credit Union, and will be given to one senior at AK. Candidates must demonstrate leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement. Also, you must be planning on attending one of the 16 campuses of the UNC System, and have at least a 2.5 unweighted GPA. To apply, please submit your resume and a one page essay on why you think you would be the best candidate for this scholarship, to Ms. Braketa in Student Services by Monday, March 25th.

Attention Seniors: The Ardrey Kell PTSO is offering ten $1,000 scholarships to current seniors at AK. Students must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5, and you or your family must be members of the PTSO. If you are interested in applying, please pick up an application form in Student Services. The due date is Monday, March 25th.
