NOTES: (1) Lead in with the question of whether any of the students have ever looked for a job in a newspaper classified ads section. Briefly discuss whether they think this is a good way to find a job. (3 minutes) (2) With the students seated in pairs, distribute the handouts Handout A to one student, and Handout B to the other. Read aloud the instructions at the top of the handout note that there is only one difference in each of the eight job ads. Once the students have finished, elicit the differences from them. (See answers below.) (10 15 minutes) (3) Extend the activity by asking the students rank the jobs according to which ones they would like to have the most (1 = the job they would most like to have; 2 = they job they would next most like to have; and so on with 8 = the job they would least like to have). Students can then compare and discuss their answers in pairs or small groups. (10 minutes)
