The Broke Ass Gamers

Up until recently, I was playing Orks for my 40k army. Lets face it, they are one of the most popular armies, full of random acts of Orkiness and brutality. Orks really are a special army to me. Great in close combat and in numbers, orks have ALMOST everything. I will go into detail with my thoughts of the current 5th edition codex. Fluff Orks are a fungal, feral, wild warriors from the future. They are as numerous as they are vicious, estimated to be easily the largest race in the entire galaxy. Special Rules Almost the entire army has the WAAAAAAGHHH Special rule. What this does, is essentially gives the army fleet of foot. Furious Charge gives the boyz an added str and initiative for their charges. Mob Rule gives fearless to larger units. More boyz are always better. Units Ok, you have 2 unit choices. Grots and Boyz. Boyz up to 30 in a unit, and you always want to add a Nob and Klaw. I find that adding the armor to all units too costly, you are going to lose boyz. Get over it. You can also switch out sluggas for shootas, there are some viable builds for that, i find the boyz do work best in assault however. Stikk bombs are a waste of points, I would only add that to the Nob. Boss Pole, it is so worth it, do you really want your boyz to run off the board at that crucial moment after you have lost fearless? No, I did not think so. Gretchins Snipers of the ork army with a BS of 3. Gretchins are even cheaper then boyz, but have no saves. I have wanted to experiment with having a unit of gretchins soaking up wounds in the front row. I havent actually obtained the models to do so, but I might add that to my Kan Wall in the future. Now if you take a warboss, you can take Nobz. Nobs Holy Hell yes, the ULTIMATE close combat troop in my honest opinion. All can take Klaws or CHoppas for wound allocations, as well as being able to take bikes. My dream is to have an entire nob army. One day Heavy Support We have actually alot of options here. Deff Dread I have never used one, it does have the 2 dreadnaught CCWs and 2 More weapons. ITs rocking alot of weapons, but i find that only Armor 13 is not good enough to last in a fight. Everyone has Meltas. BattleWagon The Orks best vehicle in my opinion. It is Massive. Front Armor 14 and a decent 12 side armor, this has tons of options, including awesome fun orky weapons such as the Deff Rolla. Its a solid tank, and can also take 20 models. Killa Kans these walkers have a BS 3. Take advantage of that, most people use them as a walking heavy weapons platform. Grotzooka is a Heavy 2 blast weapon. Otherwise i typically use a rokkit launcher. Flash Gitz I have never used them ever. In 6th Edition there are too many hi powered weapons that will either instant kill you or deny you your save. If you have used them effectively, post down below your thoughts. Big Gunz Honestly have never seen the models, or anyone play them. I would love to see some pics or

hear your thoughts on them. Looted wagons Dont waste your Heavy support slot with this. Trukks! Elites Nobz My favorite Ork unit. This is the iconic giant Ork. They are multi wound models, can take bikes, klaws, rokkit launchers, etc. They have alot of options compared to most other ork models. I would love to make an all nobz army one day. Meganobz Another unit that is cool in theory, i rarely see these in practice. Once again, if you use them, let us know! Burna Boyz Viable, the only way to really get flame templates as an ork, but thro these badboyz in a trukk and you do alot of damage against horde armies. TankBustas Cool unit, but just a waste of a slot. They have a glory hogs rule that makes them attack vehicles if they are within Line of SIght. Bomb squigs are cool, but can backfire. Lootas Once again, have never tried them. Kommados I think that in a 5k + game, they could do some damage, but just like scouts, its too random for me. Next time, i will go into detail of the diffrent HQs. There are a few things to discuss so i wanted to do a separate article. Till next time guys! -BA Wayne 2011 The Broke Ass Gamers LLC.
