Does the American Constitution guarantee freedom?

What is the American Constitution? The American constitution is arguably the single most important document in US politics. Influenced by philosopher John Locke, the constitution is a flexible and legal list of rights and restrictions, designed to protect US citizens. What is the Bill of Rights? The first 10 amendments of the constitution, in accordance to Article V of the Constitution, it allows for future amendments to the document. Anti-federalists believed that the constitution created a potential threat to individual sovereignty and rights as it created a strong federal government. It was aimed to create a limited federal government and protect every mans individual rights. What freedoms does the Bill of Rights refer to? Republican freedom is the freedom from domination. It highlights that individuals lose their freedoms even when they are not subject to interference. Without the Bill of Rights there is a potential threat as the government may infringe upon individual liberties. Does the bill of rights guarantee freedom? First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Fourth Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The second amendment in relation to freedom


The second amendment: A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Is the second amendment a guarantee of freedom or simply a security measure needed at the time of writing? Is the sale of automatic weapons and others, used in incidents such as the recent sandy hook shootings, justifiable in the name of freedom? What has been the judgement of the Supreme Court in modern times when examining the second amendment?
The Fifth Amendment: No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Are the Patriot Act and Guantanamo Bay within the boundaries of the Constitution and what it was set up to protect? Judicial review Focusing mainly on the judicial review of amendment 1, as explained by Hamilton (one of Americas first constitutional lawyers) judicial review ensures that the will of the whole people, would be supreme over the will of a legislature, whose statutes might express only the temporary will of part of the people. Does judicial review interfere with the constitutional guarantee of freedom?
