Traces of Grace
Dear Fellow Parishioners; "Habemos Papa!" We have a Pope! What a whirlwind of events. A Pope resigns, a Conclave assembles, white smoke rises and now we have a new Latin American Pope who has taken the name of Francis. And somehow, the world takes notice. As we begin Holy Week, we are reminded that this great venture of faith called Christianity began with the waters of the Jordan, a crucifixion, and an empty tomb. While it was a moment in time long ago, disciples every since have tried to bring the message of the Good News of Salvation to every generation, every culture and every corner of our planet. Sometimes we have been faithful and sometimes we have floundered in delivering and living out this mission. This is true for the Church as it is for every human person. But this is a unique Catholic moment for us. While the Church is a massive organization and institution, there is a part of us deeply intrigued and attracted by the possibilities this new Pope might bring to the world. He takes the name Francis, the mendicant preacher who troubled and yet revitalized the Church in his own time. He has known personal suffering, and has chosen to live simply among the folks. He asked for a blessing from the crowd gathered in St. Peter's square before he gave his own. May he remain faithful to the Gospel, faithful to his call to be Jesus' disciple and continue to live simply in the midst of our world. As it is his calling, so it is ours. May the Risen Lord direct and guide our steps towards the Kingdom. Together in Christ;

Rasgos de Gracia
Queridos feligreses; "Habemos Papa!" Tenemos Papa!

Juntos en Cristo;

What is lamentation? It is a human response to pain, a crying out to God in faith until help arrives. Lamentation is found throughout Scripture and is focused on human suffering and injustice as a continuation of Christs suffering. We come together to lament with anyone who is suffering from pain or loss, anyone who stands with others who are suffering, anyone who feels the pain and suffering of the world. Our purest response is hope, love and compassion which in turn empower us to be agents of change for Christ in the transformation of the world. This will be a truly memorable evening, full of music, readings, images and places to weep over the injustices and absurdities of life. Please join us.
