General
This release of HP ALM 11.51 represents Service Pack one of the latest release of HP ALM 11.50. This is a private release and should be used by ALM 11.5 customers in conjunction with UFT 11.5.
Important Notes
HP Business Process Testing
HP Business Process Testing is in Technology Preview. It will be released formally after completion of the Technology Preview period.
Service Test
To run Service Test type tests from HP ALM using Service Test 11.2 (locally or remotely), install patch 8 over Service Test 11.2 and perform all configuration steps that are described in Service Test 11.2 patch 8 documentation.
Change of Behavior
You now open the Details dialog box of an entity in a grid view by clicking the entitys ID hyperlink in the ID column. This functionality replaces double-clicking the entity in the grid. This change of behavior is introduced to accommodate proper in-line editing of the editable grids and improve overall perfomance. The Details dialog box also can be opened from the corresponding context menu and pulldown menu options, or CTRL+D (CTRL+ALT+D in nested grids).
Known Limitations
Installation
MSI Generator does not support Spider named 11.50.nnnn [Ref 198885] Once HP ALM 11.51 is installed on top of HP ALM 11.50, HP ALM 11.51 cannot be removed with the installation reverting back to HP ALM 11.50. Uninstalling HP ALM 11.51 requires uninstalling HP ALM 11.50 entirely. Installing with setup.exe in silent mode does not work when executed by a non-interactive user. Silent installation can be achieved by using the MSP installation option; However, when using the MSP option, the HP ALM server system tray icon process must be terminated first: 1. Open the command line as an administrator. 2. Execute the command: taskkill.exe /F /IM ALMTrayIcon.exe When installing the this patch over ALM 11.50 using MSP the following parameters should be used: msiexec /p SP1_Public.msp REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=emus
Lab Management
To work with the new Lab Management feature, you must increase the number of database connections to 200. Lab Management Service cannot connect to HP ALM Server when using an Internet proxy server that is set for user accounts but not for local system accounts. In this case, explicitly configure the service to use the proxy server by modifying the configuration file HP.ALM.Lab.Agent.RemoteService.exe.config which resides in C:\Program Files\HP\HP ALM Lab Service. Follow the MSDN intructions that are available in this link. [Ref 201516] The Run report cannot be viewed if the execution of a Service Test is stopped explicitly. [Ref 200813] Lab management projects that are named using double byte characters cannot be upgraded. [Ref 201043] All HP ALM components (meaning, HP ALM client, HP ALM Server, and Load Balancer) must communicate via the same protocoleither only HTTP or only HTTPS. [Ref 201572]
Templates cannot be created from a QCP file with LAB extension enabled. You can however use the Import Project from Project File option to import the QCP file from within the Template Projects folder under your domain. [Ref 202141]
CIT
CIT is not supported in ALM 11.50. Do not upgrade ALM 11 (or earlier) projects requiring the CIT extension to ALM 11.50.
Sprinter
Unexpected behavior may be experienced when using Sprinter in conjunction with the ALI extension. To solve this matter, manually register the ALI extension library file using the following command line syntax: regsvr32 <ALM client path>/AliExtension.dll [Ref 113322]
Excel Reports
You can create Excel reports based on business views you define and manage in Project Customization. To create Excel reports based on business views, install the HP ALM Business Views Microsoft Excel Add-in. For details, see the HP Application Lifecycle Management User Guide.
Assessment Website
A new service is now available on the web to help you better assess your current ALM deployment and get tailored recommendations to improve your ALM configuration. The collected data can also be helpful when contacting support.

When setting up the HP ALM server machine, consider the following: 64-bit support: For UNIX, only Solaris 10 Sparc 64-bit is supported in ALM 11.50. It is recommended to increase permsize and heapsize. For more information, refer to Performance Tuning Best Practices for ALM at HP Software Product Manuals.
IPv6 support: ALM 11.50 can work on IPv6-enabled systems. However, ALM is still developed within an IPv4 environment. This means that in ALM 11.50: Data communication is possible using IPv4 transport. Management communication can be over IPv4 transport. The presence of the IPv4 network stack is required.
