Facultatea v pune la dispoziie o dotare valoroas avnd 24 de amfiteatre i sli pentru cursuri, 33 de sli pentru seminarii, 30 de laboratoare de testare, 5 laboratoare de calcul cu o capacitate de peste 200 de locuri, hardware actualizat la zi i software de specialitate performant, platform seismic, tunel aerodinamic, bibliotec i sal de lectur.

FACULTY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AND BUILDING SERVICES

The first engineering school in Romania was founded by Gheorghe Asachi, a great man of culture and science, in 1813. Higher education in Civil Engineering in Iasi was initiated by the same great scholar Gheorghe Asachi, who set up in 1848 the Application School for Engineering. It was only in 1941 when the Faculty of Civil Engineering became part of the Higher Polytechnic School of Iasi. From 2005, our educational offer will include Bachelor and Master of Science programs of studies, in accordance with the construction of European Higher Educational Area up to 2010.

FACULTY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING AND BUILDING SERVICES

The mission of the Faculty of Civil Engineering is to create and promote the graduates competences in order to develop this engineering field in our country and the world. The main objective is the formation of specialists in designing, execution, maintenance and rehabilitation of buildings. Teaching and learning in foreign languages increase the chances of new specialists in their future careers. This educational offer essentially contributes to the development of faculty international dimension.

The specializations purpose is the creation of a high quality incentive intellectual environment based on the subjects related to design by: assuring a high level of courses; offer of competent graduates in civil engineering; developing and supporting relevant research for this domain; developing the competences for counselling; maintaining the domain between the modern industrial technologies; contribution to regional and local development.

The program mission is to instruct, educate, develop and monitor students in order to achieve the required competencies and skills for a successful engineer who will work as practitioner in civil engineering design, construction sites, construction management, maintenance, rehabilitation and research.

The same area of competencies and skills as previously mentioned, but the language of instruction is English. In order to be accepted for this specialization, the students must pass an English proficiency examination. The academic degree is internationally recognized.

The program mission is to train specialists in the design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of highways, roads, bridges, railways, tunnels, airports and viaducts.

It trains specialists in the design, construction and maintenance of all equipments that assure the comfort and hygiene in buildings (plumbing equipments, heating equipments, lighting equipments, air conditioning equipments etc.).

The Computer Centre offers to all students access to up-to-date computing and networking resources. They benefit the use of software available on central servers, Internet and electronic communications. The library, centrally located in the faculty, provides materials to support the educational and research activities. It contains approximately 118000 books and periodicals in Romanian and foreign languages, especially in English. It is currently subscribed to 11 journals.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering has many links with foreign universities consisting in exchange programs for students and teachers, research and Ph.D. programs. Enrolment of foreign citizens is done without entrance examination. The acceptance for studies can be based on the scholarships awarded by the Romanian state at the recommendation of the competent authorities from the candidates origin countries.
