Operations Management-Taylor Abrams pg2

I graduated from the University of Kentucky in May of 2007 and began a career at Total Quality Logistics (TQL) in July of the same year. I have been with the company ever sense and have seen my role expand over the years I have been here from a trainee to a sales team leader to a senior sales team leader. In my current role I have a dual management and sales function, I still service my own sales accounts but, I also supervise four sales team leaders who oversee their own accounts as well as 10-15 sales people under them.

My day to day operations involve the managing of my customers freight from pick up to delivery and, every variable in between. I provide transportation solutions to my customers, who are all involved in the food industry in one form or fashion. I work with my customers to help build and route the orders and, from there I set up and secure transportation for that particular shipment and manage the order through the supply chain. That would be the sales management function of my job, the management function involving the employees at my particular company involves the management of sales goals, sales coaching and, conflict resolution among other things.

I have high expectations for this course because the material contained in it is directly relevant to the industry I work in. I am hoping that this class will give me a unique perspective on how my customers run their operations behind the scenes, that I am not exposed to and with that knowledge I hope to use it to better service my clients as well as position myself to earn additional business.
