Tuesday: HSA Meeting tonight at 7:30 in the Library. Wednesday: Summer Book Orders are due todayno extensions. Thursday: Wendy's Hot Lunch Thursday: Outdoor Ed meeting 8:30AM in the library. Thursday: I am having foot surgery and will be out at least today and Friday. If there are any concerns, please see Ms. Schwab or your childs teacher. Friday: Annual Spring Sing - Kindergarten 4th grade will perform in concert for their family and friends in the gym at 1:45pm Friday: Peter Pan Costume Checksee below Reading log winners K - Nnedimma Nwosu (14 participants) 1 - Nicholas Campagnari (16 participants) 2 - Kevin Monge ( 10 participants) 3 - Joanna Dugroo ( 5 participants) 4 - Aronke Fashina (27 participants) These students may be out of uniform Wednesday, 3/20/13 Grade 4 has earned an extra recess.

We have $624,000 in pledges. 94.5% of our goal. 59.4% of our school families have made a donation.

PHONESAGAIN
Despite our efforts, our phone lines are still problematic. The 301-622-3077 number is not ringing here at all. The 301-622-3076 works most of the time, but often will not roll over to voicemail if the line is in use. We are checking emails very frequently, if you experience a problem.

PETER PAN NEWS


Our annual Spring Show, Peter Pan, is coming along! The curtain goes up on Thursday night, April 25th at 7:30 and again on Friday night, April 26th at 7:30. There will be a matinee on Wednesday, April 24 th. More details after Easter break, but hopefully, you will mark your calendars. Attention 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders If you are a Pirate, Indian or Lost Kid, please bring your costumes into school on Friday. Mrs. McDonald will be working with the students to see how their costumes are coming along. Once we return from Easter break the play will be just 2.5 weeks away. The flyers were sent home several weeks ago and are attached again to this letter. .

END OF QUARTER/REPORT CARDS


Friday is the end of the 3rd Quarter. We will have report cards out by Tuesday of next week

CAREER DAY WEDNESDAY MARCH 27


Please don't let this be our last Career Day. The students enjoy it so much. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to take over Career Day from Tina Errigo and Colleen Copeland who are graduating this year. Please contact Tina, Colleen or me if you want to learn more about Career Day.

MOVIE DAY- MARCH 27


The Student Council is ready for you to vote for a movie for the upcoming Movie Day. A form is enclosed in the folder. Please fill out and return in your folder. There is no charge this year and goodie bags will be available during the movie for all students.

LOST AND FOUND


There are many lost items that are hoping to be matched back up with their owners. All items are on display on the tables by the staircase. Any items left after March 27 will be donated to C-4.

SCANTRON UPDATE
The Scantron Results are enclosed in your folder for each of your children. In addition to the report there is an information letter from me as well as the list of terms to help you understand the data in the report. At the end of the year, after we complete the final assessments, we will send you the year end results.

TUITION FOR NEXT YEAR


I sincerely apologize for the delay in send you the new tuition schedule. St. John the Baptist is a pilot parish for a ADW initiative to streamline accounting procedures. There were numerous glitches and we are just now ironing them out. I hope to send you the new tuition schedule before we break for Easter. It will come via email.

TADS UPDATE
This school year we implemented on-line tuition payments. We (and all schools) will now re-register and pay our $500 deposit via TADS. This week you should receive an email from TADS asking you to re-register your child(ren). The good news is that some of those pesky forms that bombard us in the summer will be completed in the reregistration process. Please bear with me as we learn together these new procedures!

PARISH TIMES
Enclosed you will find this months copy of Our Parish Times. Id like to thank our editor, Mary McDyer, for spearheading our efforts to get a full page of articles in each edition. Mary is an SJB parishioner, a retired editor and a friend of our school. Thanks, Mary!.

HOST A FAMILY FROM SPAIN


The Intercultural Friends Foundation is looking for families that would be interested in hosting students from Spain this summer. It would be for 3 weeks (June 27-July 18). Bridgett Smith Friedman (daughter of Mrs. Smith) is the coordinator for this foundation and is hopeful we can help. See flyer attached.

REMINDERS
Peter Pan Snack Shack is open on Tuesday and Wednesdays. March Battle of Box Tops continues through next Wednesday. Donate books in for the 3rd & 4th grade Book and Bake Sale in April. Bowie Baysox Posters will be collected March 27. Students need to finish their books and mark it on the posters by this date. Books can be read inside or outside the classroom. The Baseball night is Sunday, April 27 at 6:35pm

JOHN THE JOGGER - MAY 4TH


Be a part of this major school event. Last year this event provided over $30,000 for our scholarship fund and ongoing academic programs. Dont want to run or walk? Then volunteer, provide an auction item or find a sponsor. Please see attached flyer.

SJB SCOUT NEWS


Garrison Thompson (Grade 3) is the 2013 Pinewood Derby Champion for SJB's Cub Scout Pack 499. Garrisons car Pegasys beat out approximately 50 other scouts cars at the Packs Derby this past Sunday, in the SJB Gym, setting multiple track records along the way! Garrison and the other 1st place finishers in each Den will represent Pack 499 at the White Oak District Pinewood Derby on April 13 at St. Bernadettes in Silver Spring. Other top finishers (semi-finalists) who are students at SJB include: Thomas Jenkins (4th grade) Timothy Quinn (4th grade) Timothy Jenkins (2nd grade) Ethan Park (1st grade)

SJB ATHLETIC MINISTRY NEWS


Adult pick-up volleyball at SJB: Sunday nights (3/24) 7:30-8:46PM in the gym. No need to commit for every Sunday come when you can.

Tee Ball registration is open. The league is for incoming K-2 graders and they play Friday evenings from April 20 through early June. Tee-ball is a great SJB Family Friday tradition with a Snack Shack so you can enjoy dinner. Please contact Steve Hazleton at Steve.Hazleton@gmail.com. .

SJB PARISH NEWS


Lenten Suppers-6PM -Fridays in Lent. Join us for a soup supper in the Lyon's Center. There will be a presentation during dinner and then Stations of the Cross at 7:30PM. Please bring a non-perishable food item as a donation to the St. Camillus Food Pantry. March 22: C-4: Help Your Neighbor by Volunteering Your Time and Talents Alyssa Sherman Ranko will talk about the many ways C-4 serves the needy in Montgomery County through its various community programs, including the Clothes Closet, Baby Closet, the Holiday Toy Closet, and its newest activity, the School Supply Program. She will highlight SJBs important contributions financial and volunteerto C-4 and what more we can do to help.
