KMS wrestling . . . . .
the quarternal round at state. During the season, four KMS wrestlers reached 100 career victories -- Kyle Baker, who ended his career with 110 career wins; Jordan Engler, who has 106 career wins heading into his junior season; Zach Carlson, who has 109 career wins heading into his nal two seasons of high school wrestling; and Cody Peters, who has lost just 15 times in the last three seasons. In addition, Jordon Rothers moved into second place on the all-time KMS wins list with 185 career victories. Kevin Steinhaus has 246 career wins to put him rst on the all-time list, while Joel Bauman is third (170), Mitch Hagen is fourth (168), Brad Kneisl is fth (164), and Linton VanHeuveln is sixth (161). KMS had two wrestlers reach at least 40 wins this season, another ve had at least 30, and another four had at least 20, meaning 10 KMS wrestlers ended the 2012-2013 season with at least 26 victories -- Zach Carlson (46-1), Jordon Rothers (45-2), Cody Peters (39-5), Chase Norton (34-9), Nick Meyer (34-14), Jorge Munoz-Pederson (31-14), Kyle Baker (30-14), Austin Rothers (29-17), Jordan Engler (25-8), and Caleb Collins (26-18). In addition, another four KMS wrestlers had doubledigit wins -- Karter VanHeuveln (16-7), Travis Lamecker (147), Casey Thorson (12-10), and Fred Manseld (11-20). The Saints, coached by Wes Haglund, Craig Johnson, and others, will lose ve members of this years team to graduation -- Jorge MunozPederson, Austin Rothers, Jordon Rothers, Kyle Baker, and Jared Krieger.

Minnesota hunters harvested 184,649 deer during the 2012 season, down 4 percent from 2011, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The decline reects the fact that hunters had fewer chances to harvest antlerless deer because the 2012 season was designed to help stabilize and increase populations, said Leslie McInenly, DNR big game program leader. We expected the reduction, she said. Firearms hunters harvested 155,599 deer while archery and muzzleloader hunters harvested 21,556 and 7,494 deer, respectively. The statewide archery harvest was up 5 percent, muzzleloader harvest increased 1 percent and rearm harvest was down 5 percent from last year. The nal deer harvest number is calculated using information provided by hunters when they register their deer. A nal report, which includes more detailed harvest information, will be available online in the coming weeks at www.mndnr.gov/deer. For the 2013 season, the deadline for the either-sex permit application is Thursday, Sept. 5. Archery deer hunting begins Saturday, Sept. 14. Firearms deer season opens Saturday, Nov. 9. Muzzleloader season opens Saturday, Nov. 30.

The MBA Mini mites took part in the Long Prairie Mini-Mite Jamobree, Feb. 9, playing two games against Alexandria and Little Falls.
