Then, 6 Petri dishes were labeled and prepared while a graduated cylinder was used to gather 11 mL of a disinfectant and added to the test tube labeled 1:1. A 250 mL beaker was used to gather 9 mL of salt water and placed into each of the remaining 4 tubes using a pipette. 1 mL of the toxic disinfectant material was then taken from the 1:1 tube using a pipette and placed into the 1:10 tube and mixed. The process of serial dilution took place: 1 mL from the 1:10 tube was placed into the 1:100 tube, then 1 mL from the 1:100 tube was placed into the 1:1,000 tube, then 1 mL from the 1:1,000 tube was placed into the 1:10,000 tube.
