fazal suhan If you are using BSNL Dataone connection , the simplest way to achieve this is to buy a switch (5 Port Switch) and connect both your machines using Patch Cords to this switch and connect your already existing Router (BSNL might have given you one or you might have bought it) also to this switch. Most of the DSL routers (which you are using right now) have a feature called NATTING with which any no of people can use the internet. There are other ways also to achieve this by not going for a Switch but as you said you are a novice in this, it is advisable to go for the above method. In stead of a switch, you can go for a hub also but getting a hub is very difficult now a days. Try to find out if some of your friends are throwing these old hubs. try to grab one and make use of it. As far as Patch cords are concerned, a patch cord is one which will connect your machine to a switch/hub. You can make one for yourself or ask some of your friends to make one or buy it in the market for around Rs.100/- each. You ask the vendor to make it one for you and it might cost you Rs.25/- per meter length. Hope this will solve your problem Regards Ravi Kumar Tenneti ravikumartenneti@yahoo.com

0% 0 Votes KF5DOA Don't listen to the above answers!! Just buy a router. If one computer has a wireless adapter, then you can buy a wireless router, thus, having one computer connected to the router via ethernet and the other a wireless connection. If both computers don't have a wireless adapter then you will need to connect both computers to a router via ethernet cable. Getting a router is the easiest option for you. When you buy your router, just connect the modem to the router and then computers to router (make sure your modem and router are both off). You can purchase a router for about 30 or so bucks. A wireless router will be a bit more. Either way, a router is your best bet, and don't worry about that USB networking deal unless you purchase a USB wireless adapter. Trust me I do this stuff for a living.
