Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts seeks a full-time Technical Director responsible for leading, managing

and overseeing the Technical department, reporting to the Director of Production. Responsibilities include developing/maintaining a high quality technical staff program, technical preparation of theater facilities and shops, ensuring appropriate resources are assigned to execute performing arts and rental events at the highest level of quality. Maintain operational readiness of all major technical systems. Develop safety and maintenance policies and procedures, train technical staff, ensure effective advance work. Assist with budget creation and manage technical budgets. Supervise/coordinate the setup of all sound systems, stage lighting and theatrical equipment and the design and execution of in-house produced events/presentations. Applicants should have an advanced degree in technical theater or theater with emphasis in technical theater, and minimum five years experience as a technical director at a professional level comparable to a LORT house. Demonstrated leadership and/or management required. Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and stand on feet for long time periods. Must be able to negotiate stairs, catwalks up to 45 feet above ground. Flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings and weekends required. Current CPR and AED certification, ETCP Rigger-Theater and Entertainment Electrician certification highly preferred. The WACPA is currently in construction in downtown Beverly Hills, CA with completion set for Spring of 2013. Anticipated start date for this position is January 2013. Salary DOE + benefits.
