Proposed Research work in Image Fusion SUMMARY Image fusion is the process of combing information from two or more

images of the scene in to a single composite image that is more informative and is more suitable for visual perception or computer processing. The goal of the image fusion is to integrate complementary multisensory, multi temporal and/or multi focus images into one new image. The most important issue in image fusion how to mix two or more images into one fused image. In recent years, several image fusion techniques have been proposed. Image fusion can be performed at three levels: pixel level, feature level and decision level. Pixel level fusion schemes are implemented mostly in spatial domain or transform domain. Anjali Malviya [1] proposed pixel based and region based fusion schemes including wavelet transform. In another paper Anjali Malviya [2] proposed pixel based fusion scheme such as simple average, simple greatest and simple block replacement in spatial domain wavelet average, wavelet greatest pixel in wavelet domain. Naidu, V.P.S [3] pixel level image fusion using wavelets and principal component analysis. Ashok Kumar [4] demonstrated pixel level and feature level image fusion scheme based on linear algebra; here wavelets are used along with wronskian fusion rule and variant of the wronskian fusion rule also proposed. Uttam Kumar [5] in his paper reviewed seven pixel based image fusion techniques such as intensity-hue-saturation (IHS), high-pass filter (hpf), high-pass modulation (hpm), Principal Component Analysis, Fourier transform and correspondence Analysis. Li Maokuan [6] proposed Independent Component Analysis and Wavelet based fusion methods. Xing Wang Zhang [7] proposed Accumulated Gradient and PCA Transform-based fusion scheme. Several techniques have been proposed, namely pixel-based spatial domain methods and wavelet domain methods. In all fusion techniques it is observed that either different fusion rules are applied on the image directly on pixels in spatial domain or transforming image into wavelet domain then applying different fusion rules. In comparison, wavelet domain methods performed better than spatial domain methods. All the fusion schemes are applied on different images like multisensory, multifocus and medical images (CT and MRI).
