Why Africa cannot produce leaders of substance.

Leaders who head countries and empires, in the eyes of the world are first of all seen as brave men and women who dont exactly know what they are doing which depends on the continent then the country they rule. Barack Obama would not be seen as one of those rulers because he has veto power in the UN, the country he heads is a member of the G5,G7,G8 etc so when his name is mentioned, it ends in admiration and possible praise. But when it comes to African countries there are exaggerated sighs and eye rolls. The question is why arent the African leaders praised like their fellow mates or in the slightest idea worshipped? Is it because they are by far more special than Barack Obama? Do they belong to even better World organisation groups than the G5&co? Unlike Europe, Asia and America, Africa is a continent where nature and tradition rules the day and where venality is a constant factor. For the past four decades African countries like Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa etc have had bad leadership which continues to degenerate, except during the period when South Africa had a man named Nelson Mandela who had fought for the black majority in South Africa for more than two decades before and during his stay in prison, A man who won a Nobel peace prize along with de Klerk the then president of South Africa and was elected as the first black president of South Africa a year later. In 2007, was awarded the Mo Ibrahim award an Honour laureate which celebrates the excellence of African leadership. Unfortunately, there was no winner in 2009 which questions the African leaders in general. Mozambique also had a great leader as a role model, his name was Joaquim Chissano who was the president of Mozambique from 1986-2005.His regime was noted for its pragmatic domestic policy particularly the role he played in the ending of the Mozambique civil war. What portrays these leaders as bad representatives of their countries? Why are there no leaders of substance in Africa? The reason for this is that many of the leaders today ranging from chairmen to governors to presidents enter the once sacred temple of politics for what they can gain from it. A huge percent of the leaders today are involved in politics because of the money they can earn / embezzle. These leaders dont have vision for the people the only two constant things in their lives are to look good in front of the people and their secret international bank accounts abroad in Sweden or Switzerland. Most of these leaders also came from dull backgrounds so for this reason they see politics as a way of amassing their wealth to feel more secure about each other. One would believe that the leaders would make the country a better place because they have experienced a brush of poverty at first hand but then those who believed that are usually wrong. Another reason why Africa cannot produce leaders of substance is because of the avaricious state of mind that is the psychology most Africans who are interested in politics have. Some of the people who enter politics with clear, considerate and good intentions do not often make it to the final round of the elections because there is a lot of corruption and those in power will either find a way to stay in government by extending the terms of their regime or will find a way to control the new heads of state. The African leaders of today have been in control of their various governments for more than ten years! Men like Mugabe have been in power since the middle 1980s. The only question that remains is that would Africa ever have a leader of Substance? And if so, when would that be?
