Unha Launch Vehicle : the 21th century space transportation system


On Dec, 12,2012, DPRK successfully launch Unha-3(2nd Unit) and became the 10th country of Space Club This presentation shows technical properties of Unha Launch Vehicle System including vehicle itself and support system

3 stage, all liquid, small class expendable launch vehicle developed by DPRK indigenously Vehicle type: ULV-2A (Unha-N means mission number like Delta-258 V248 ) Length/Diameter :31.0m Gross Mass: 83.4t Payload Capacity :480kg to 500km SSO Launch from Sohae (to SSO) and Tonghe (LEO,GTO etc.) satellite launch center

Separation plane Propulsion: 4 CJ-113 rocket engine (each has 28tf class main turust chamber and 3.8tf class vernier thrust chamber fed by common 33tf class turbopump ) Control: 1 plane gimbaling of 4 vernier TC Staging sequence
Propellant depletion sensor start to shut down sequence of engines. After an 1sec of cut-off, retro motors and separation pyrotechnics are fired

Propulsion: CJ-131 rocket engine (with 4tf class four TC :same as 1st stage verniers with larger nozzles) fed by common 15tf class TP ) Control: 1 plane gimbaling of 4 TC Dual plane separation:
