MMORE

Marketing Contest Video Due: Monday 4.22

Final Report Due: Wednesday 4.24

Description: Our final project for this class is a marketing proposal for MMORE: Multiple
Myeloma Opportunities for Research & Education, a Columbus-based nonprofit organization that raises money to support cancer research. You will either: 1. Create marketing materials for their preexisting fundraiser MoveMMORE 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk or 2. Suggest a fundraising event of your own. Either choice must include 1. a marketing report, 2. a three substantial marketing prototypes that build up to a cohesive campaign, and 3. a 4-6 minute video showcasing your plan. While specific information on the contest is available on our course website. For this class, your final assignment must include the following.

I. Report
1.

[Title Page] :

Group members names. Name of company. Company logo. Date. (remember to include page numbers)

2.

[Introduction] :

See 4.1. Should include a similar but expanded introduction to cover what

youve done now. a. Start with an abstract of the entire document: Briefly what is your campaign and what are the main points your report touches on. b. Give a current description of MMORE. Briefly, who are they, what are they doing, whats their ethos. c. List what MMORE does well and list some areas for improvement that you will build upon. d. List any other design considerations. 3.

[Potential Donors] :

The marketing proposal should identify at least three groups or organizations (or categories of groups and organizations) that are likely to support MMORE through the event. Possibilities include but are not limited to companies, student organizations, civic organizations, or specific demographic groups. a. Beyond identifying these groups you should discuss what types of organizations they are likely to contribute to, how MMORE might get their money, etc. b. Explain how the campaign youre suggesting reaches these demographics.

4.

[Alternatives/Competitors]:Identify three similar non-profit organizations that are of the

same kind, purpose, and or business as MMORE. Describe what they are doing and what MMORE can learn from them in terms of the specific campaign that you are developing.

5.

[Final Prototype]: This is what youve been building up to. A cohesive campaign with three distinct parts to it. a. Introduction to Event: Stat with a paragraph description of the event, why it

works in terms of your potential donors, MMOREs ethos, and how it draws on the alternatives youve looked at. b. 3 Individual Marketing Pieces: The three individual projects that each of your team member created to market your planned event. Each individual part should include be multi-parted addressed to at least two of the specific audiences you suggest above. For instance, you might developed: flyers, brochures, digital media products, social media campaigns, or other documents.
A description of and marketing plan for each demographic, organization, or class of organization. Explain why each group is a good market for MMORE. Explain how MMORE should communicate the benefits of the event to each target audience. Estimate the costs of implementing each plan, including any necessary in-kind donations. Drafts of significant correspondence needed to implement the proposal. For example, if you think MMORE should ask President Gees office to email a flyer to all OSU students, then you must draft the request letter that Nancy Kaufmann would send to Gees office. You would also draft language for Gees email to students.

c. MMORE Requirements: Your materials must communicate the following:

Information about multiple myeloma and MMORE. Relevant details about the event. An explanation of the benefits for participants. An explanation of how the funds raised at the event will be applied to research. MMORE will provide information about how it supports research. A link to the MMORE website: www.mmore.org Any typed instance of a MMORE event must conform to MMOREs typographic branding. The event name is written with the first word italicized, with MMORE not italicized but in all CAPS, and with no space between the two words. For example, MoveMMORE. If your team creates a new event, its title must follow these typographic conventions.

6.

[Budget, Conclusion, and Proposal]:

a. Budget : Although I dont expect you to have a super-detailed budget, I do expect you
to research generalized costs of things online and illustrate how what you are suggesting stays under the budget of 800 dollars that MMORE has. This should basically be a bulleted list. See Heavenly Pies Example Online. b. Persuasive Summary : Conclude with a brief redescription of your major design priorities and why you are right in the solutions you maderemember the goal of this report is a persuasive one. c. Whats Next : State what the client will need to do in the future with the site. Are there points they will have to regularly update (prices, a calendar, recent news feature?)

II. Video Pitch

This 4-6 minute video pitch is very similar to how you turned your website redesign into a speech except that it should be shorter and more practiced. Basically you should create a prezi/powerpoint (though Prezis often work better for this) and record yourself (using quicktime screen capture) speaking over the slides. Presenting the most important pieces of your proposal.
