Analysis and Interpretation of Data Figure 1 shows how many students use the internet to complete assignments.

It can be seen that majority of the students (80%) use the internet to complete their assignments while 20% do not use the internet to complete their assignments. Figure 2 indicates the distractions faced by the students. It is seen that 75% of the students consider social networks as their main distraction. 10% of the respondents stated games as their main distraction. Another 10% stated instant messaging as their main distraction and 5% specified other distractions such as Youtube. Figure 3 illustrates the most likely outcome of the students distraction. It can be seen that 55% stated that the most likely outcome of their distraction will result in them not completing their assignments. 20% considered addiction as the most likely outcome of their distraction. 15% have specified their outcome by stating that their distraction has will have no effect on them while 10% of the respondents say that their likely outcome is that assignments are incorrectly done. Figure 4 represents the positive effects of the internet on the students. It is seen that 50% stated that the internet increases academic performance because of the educational activities available. 40% stated that it increases knowledge. 5% stated that the internet allows one to get new skills because of tutorials available while another 5% specified their positive effect by stating that the internet will cause them to gain all of the above responses given. Figure 5 shows the solutions to distractions. 40% stated that supervision by parents would be the most appropriate solution to distractions. 35% stated that allocating a separate time to contact friends would be the most suitable solution while 25% stated blocking social networking sites

would be the most appropriate. It can be seen that none of the respondents selected the option of uninstalling games during the school term. From this, the researcher has found that most students use the internet to complete assignments as indicated by 80%. Of the distractions given, social networks have emerged as the main distraction for most students in institution X as indicated by 75%. The most likely outcome of their distraction would be that it causes them to not complete their assignments, indicated by 55%. The researcher has also found that most students agree that the most positive impact the internet would have is its ability to increase academic performance because of the educational activities available and the ability to complete assignments as indicated by 50%. Lastly, it is understood that most students agree that supervision by parents would be the most suitable measure in order to prevent distractions while completing assignments.
