.40 am (1 hour) Year 5 Gigih Enrolment: 28 pupils Units/Themes/Topics: Unit 4 Animals and Us Focus/ Listening and Speaking Content Standard: By the end of this topic, pupils will be able to pronounce words and speak confidently with correct stress, rhythm and intonation. Language Content: 1.1.3 Able to listen to, say aloud and recite rhymes or sing songs. 1.1.4 Able to talk about stimulus with guidance. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: 1. List out the names of animals as many that they know. 2. Recite each stanza with correct stress, rhythm and intonation. 3. Answer at least four question correctly. CCTS 1. Classifying 2. Making associations 3. Dictionary skills Moral Values: 1. Cooperation 2. Responsible 3. Appreciate animals Teaching Aids 1. Pictures 2. Poem from textbook 3. Activity book Prior Knowledge/Skills: Pupils have learnt the name of animals before in science classes. Steps Teaching Strategy Language Content T: Do you ever see an animal? Set Induction 1) Teacher draws a mind map on the board (5 Minutes) and brainstorm on topic animals. 2) Teacher get pupils to name as many animals that they know and write it in the mind map.
1) Teacher reads the poem to pupils 2) Teacher asks the pupil to answer questions after reading each stanza. 3) Teacher writes all pupils answers on the blackboard. 4) Teacher corrects when necessary.
T: What can we find around us? S: We can find animals around us. T: How do the bulls, cows and goats help man? S: The help man to pull carts and carry goods. T: Why cant we keep rats and roaches as pets? S: We cannot keep them because they bring diseases. T : Why do farmers rear cats? S : They rear cats to keep away rats T : Why are dog Useful? They look after houses and keep robbers away. T: 1. What can you see in the picture? 2. Name the animals in the farm. 3. What are the people doing? 4. Have you been to a farm before?
Step2: 1) Teacher provides to a copy of picture. ( 5 minutes) 2) Teacher encourage pupils to talk about the pictures by asking questions.

Step 3: (7 minutes)
1) Teacher asks pupils to take out the activity book and assigns the page for exercise. 2) Teacher instructs pupils to complete the
exercise in 5 minutes. 3) Teacher discusses the answers with pupils. 4) Teacher advises the use of Picture Dictionary.
Closure (3 minutes)
1) Teacher play the Old MacDonald had a farm song and the student sing along 2) Teacher recaps the todays lesson. 3) Teacher instructs pupils to complete the activity books at home and bring it in the next lesson.
