Reflection on the simulated teaching Being in the teaching profession is a passion for me because the excitement of teaching and

guiding young children. Although I have no experience in teaching student, the simulated teaching that I have done with my partner Then Tze Yaw was really a step towards the life of a teacher. The process of preparing the materials and lesson plan was a challenge for me and the simulated teaching opened my perspective on criteria needed in conducting a lesson. Before the simulated teaching, I prepared script with my partner on the lesson that we were going to present. The rehearsal helped me to be confident in front of my audience and able to present with natural flow. The tension that I felt when facing my audience before the teaching made me realized that I still unable to control my anxiety. Luckily, I tried to talk as naturally as I can before I started my lesson. I tried to calm down so that I can proceed with the lesson. During the explanation of the activity and the focus of the lesson, I and my partner were flawlessly deliver our input to the audience. I realized that I can overcome my fear within a short period of time. I was satisfied with my performance during the teaching session. I still need to improve my technique in deliver information because I felt that I spoke too much. I realized that I can misguide students if I talk a lot ant make them confuse instead of understand the lesson. I should precisely explain the information and provide understandable examples if I was going to teach students and help them to learn better. The problem that we faced during the teaching session was our materials used. It was not suitable to students because the color used for the font and the selection of font. Not only the font was small, the contrast of color between the white board and the font of the word was not visible from behind. The fonts were also not suitable for Year three students because they understand better using small letter compared to capital letter. The letter a that we used was not taught in primary school and it can confuse students. i should have considered the small details such as fonts and letter because it can affect students competency to learn.

After the simulated teaching, we were commented by Madam Ira, our lecturer. She was pleased because we were able to deliver the lesson smoothly without any disruption. She also commented on out grammar and she amazed that there were hardly any mistake. Her comments really boost my self confidence and my determination to improve my performance. It was really an amazing experience and it was a good practice for me especially if I was given a chance to handle a class. I hope that I can excel in this profession because I find it challenging and exciting.
