Application for(CIT)Volunteer Program

We are now accepting CIT applications for summer camp 2013.
Our junior volunteer program is developed for students 12 17 years of age interested in
enhancing their skills in horsemanship. (Students age 11 will be considered for the
program only with special recommendation from their trainer. They must be able to
Groom, Tack, and Untack independently. They must ride a minimum of an intermediate
level. Six working hours (weekends) or one camp day can be exchanged for one group
lesson. Volunteer time must be scheduled in advance with the staff, and approved by the
director. Students must continue to take their regular paid WEEKLY

lesson/lessons, OR in the summer be registered in a minimum of 2

ADVANCED CAMP WEEKS, in order to be eligible for the program.
If you cancel or cannot make your regular lesson, you are not eligible
for CIT lessons.
Summer camp CITs hours are from 9am until approximately 430pm with about an hour
for lunch, and 90 minutes for tacking/riding/untacking in the CIT lesson.
CIT lessons are taught daily. Camp CITs must work a full week of camp to receive 4
group lessons and one hack per week.
Students will learn and practice horse care, teaching skills, and barn management skills.
This is a great way to offset the cost of additional lessons and build strong work ethic.
Older and more advanced students will have the opportunity to help train horses.

Saturday and Sunday CITs schedule is from 8:30am until 4:30pm which includes about
30 minutes for lunch and 90 minutes for tacking/riding/untacking for the CIT lesson (6
working hours). Volunteering a half or partial day does not qualify the student for a CIT
lesson that day. Birthday Party or Scout party CIT requirements are based on the length
of the event, and are as needed.
