This document is based on setting you computer and configuring your MFP to be able to SCAN-TO-SMB in a

Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate environment.

All the information provided here is similar to Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 Home Premium

Scan-To-SMB (Scan-To-Desktop)

The Scan to SMB operation is used to send the scanned data of an original document to a shared folder on a computer on the network.

By registering a destination with a one-touch dial button, paper documents can be converted into data and sent simply by touching a button in the One-Touch screen.

SMB uses Ports: 135, 136, 138, 139 and 445

Creating and Sharing a Folder

1. Login to your Windows Vista Ultimate Computer.

Creating a New Share

Verify that this particular user does not have a password created. (We are using an account without a password)

Setting up a Sub-Folder

1. Create a Folder and then another folder inside of the first folder created.

In this example we created a Parent Folder called SMB in the ROOT of C:

Setting up a Hidden Share

1. Create a folder. To make it hidden type in a $ at the end of the folder name.
