Call for More Direct KK–Cebu Flights: The Sabah and Cebu
governments have hopes for better air connectivity between Kota Kinabalu
and Cebu. This was expressed during a recent courtesy call made by the
Governor of Cebu, Gwendolyn F. Garcia, to the State’s Minister of Tourism,
Culture and Environment, Datuk Masidi Manjun. The Minister said that he
also discussed how the Sabah government and Cebu could work together in
the promotion of tourism for mutual benefit. “We believe that both Sabah and
Cebu have good tourism products which people from both places would be
able to enjoy. We believe we should also promote more regional tourism, and
this is where the Cebu-Sabah tie-up seems to make sense,” he said.
Presently, there are only 2 weekly direct flights servicing the KK-Cebu-KK
route.

Perfect for breakfast, lunch and tea,
here are some of our recommended
eats when in Kota Kinabalu:
Kedai Kopi Kwong Tung Chai Kolombong (Jalan Pantai, 016 830
2877) – Serves the best homemade charcoal-roasted duck, as well as
chicken rice and char siew (sweet roasted pork). Usually packed
lunch; many wait in line just to get a table! Open daily from 7:30 am
– 2:00 pm.
Kedai Kopi Seng Hing (Sinsuran) – Mention Seng Hing and the
locals will quickly point out their specialty dish: Tom Yam noodles! A
spicy and creamy soup served with a generous portion of noodles and
prawns (or fish). The coffee shop has a wide selection of meals includ-
ing fried noodles, fried rice and chicken rice. We recommend the
unique ‘Lihing Chicken’ served with white rice – a delicious dish that
uses local rice wine to give it that one-of-a-kind flavour! Open daily
from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm.
* Please note that most Chinese coffee shops serve pork.
