1. Purpose a. For the first grade students to apply their knowledge of nouns to the idea of pronouns and to identify pronouns in an activity i. Essential Questions: 1. What is a noun? 2. What is a person, place, or thing? 3. What is a pronoun? 4. When do we use pronouns? 5. When do we see pronouns? 6. What pronouns do we say in conversation? 2. Vocabulary/ Key Terms a. Nouns- a person, place, or thing b. Pronouns- take the place of nouns in sentences c. Replace- to take the place of another d. Blooms Taxonomy Words: i. Identify ii. Create iii. Match iv. Rewrite v. d. Computer Technology Key idea: Computers, as tools for design, modeling, information processing, communication, and system control, have greatly increased human productivity and knowledge. Performance Indicators Elementary Students will: identify and describe the function of the major components of a computer system use the computer as a tool for generating and drawing ideas control computerized devices and systems through programming 6. Pre- Assessment a. Students have been previously assessed on nouns through the use of homework and classroom activities. Students have identified what nouns are and what category of nouns they belong to. 7. Lesson Presentation a. Set Induction: i. Teacher will introduce lesson of pronouns by reviewing with students the previous lesson on nouns 1. What is a noun? 2. What is an example of a noun? 3. Are there nouns in the classroom? 4. Where can nouns be found? ii. Teacher will transition by saying, Since we have learned about nouns, now we will learn about a different type of noun called a pronoun. iii. Duration: 15 minutes b. Procedure: i. Teacher will upload SMART Board lesson 1. A pronoun takes the place of nouns in sentences a. Pronouns can be found in books or sentences b. Pronouns are used during conversation c. Pronouns can be said and heard 2. Pronoun Song a. Students will raise their hand when they hear pronouns in the song 3. Identify picture to Pronoun a. This slide will have three pictures, students will have to identify a correct pronoun for each. 4. Sentences where the person, place, or thing is replaced by a pronoun a. These examples will emphasize the idea of replacing a noun for a pronoun in a sentence 5. Match the person, place, or thing with the appropriate pronoun

a. Interactive activity b. Students will walk up to the SMART Board ii. Duration: 20 minutes c. Closure: i. SMART Board Slides Continued 1. Dice with pronouns a. Teacher will press the dice five times revealing the five pronouns b. Students will then write five sentences using the five pronouns c. Teacher will walk around the classroom offering support ii. Teacher will ask students to share their sentences iii. Teacher will end lesson by saying, Today we learned about pronouns, can someone explain to me what pronouns are? iv. Pronoun song 9. Follow up Activity a. Dice with pronouns i. Teacher will press the dice 5 times revealing the 5 pronouns ii. Students will then write 5 sentences using the 5 pronouns iii.
