Page 2 It’s Your Turn

Joshua 1:1-8
It’s your turn

v. 2 Moses my servant is dead; therefore arise, go over this Jordan

What is this saying to you and me today?
Fact: It is now our turn to lead the people to the Promised Land.
What are you willing to do with it?

v.3 Every place that the soul of your foot shall tread upon,
that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

v.5 As I was with Moses, so I will be with you:

I will not fail you, nor forsake thee.
Are you willing to accept this promise?

God’s Direction for Us.

v.6 1. Be strong and of good courage:

v.7 2. Observe to do according to all the law,
v.7 3. Turn not from it --- to the right, or to the left
That thou may prosper

God’s Commandment to Us.

v.8 1. This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth;
2. Thou shall meditate therein day and night,
3. That you may do according to all that is written therein:

God’s Promise to Us.

v.8 For then you shall make your way prosperous,
v.8 And you shall have good success.

Question yourself:
1. Is this God’s direction for you?

2. Are you willing to be obedient to God’s Commandment?

3. Do you desire God’s Promise to you?

It’s Your Turn Page 3

What can you do to apply this Word to your Life?

Personal Life Application

Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate
therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is
written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt
have good success.

Meditate = to mourn by speaking, study, or talking

There was a magazine that published a photo of an elderly lady with her ear
down at the chest of a construction worker, and nothing else about it. After it
came out many people wrote in asking what the photo was all about. In the next
issue there was this explanation.
You see the construction worker, after having a long history of heart trouble,
had just received a heart transplant, and the elderly lady who had also just lost
her only son in a tragic accident, was in love listening to the heart beat of her son
in the chest of the construction worker.
We also must understand that God the Father who gave his only Son for us,
has his head down to our chest listening to hear the heart beat of his Son.

Question:
What does the heart beat of Jesus sound like?

 Evangelism and Discipleship

Does your heart beat with Evangelism and Discipleship?

Or does it beat a beat of its own?

Prayer Time:
Dear Lord, please hear my heart and see if in me, is your heart. If not, change
the beat of my heart to match that of yours. Create in me a heart that loves the
world as you love the world.
A-men!
Page 4 Walking Worthy

Eph. 4:1-18
Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering,
Forbearing one another in love, Endeavoring to keep the unity of the
Spirit, in the bond of peace.

1. Identify your calling!

2. Walk worthy of your calling!
Read 1 Thess. 2:11-14
v. 12 That ye would walk worthy of God who hath called you unto his
kingdom and glory.
v.14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God --- in
Christ Jesus: For ye have suffered like things ---

How to do so: Eph. 4:2

With lowliness and meekness
With longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond
of peace.
Peace = prosperity + quietness or rest + set at one again.

Why:
There is One body
One spirit
One hope of your calling
One Lord
One faith
One baptism
One God and Father ---
Of all
Above all
Through all
In you all

3. Unto everyone of us is given grace according

To the measure of the gift of Christ.
Grace = the divine influence of the heart, and its reflection in the life.
Gift of Christ --- according to the measure --- given.
He gave some: (Eph. 4:11-14)
Apostles = ambassadors of the gospel,
Prophets = foretellers (an inspired speaker)
Evangelists = preachers of the gospel
Pastors = shepherds
Teachers = instructors
Walking Worthy Page 5

For:
The perfecting of the saints
The work of the ministry
The edifying of the body of Christ --- the Church unified

Till:
We all come in the unity of the faith
Of the knowledge of the Son of God
Unto a perfect man
Unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

That:
We henceforth be no more children,
Tossed to and fro
Carried about with every wind of Doctrine
By the slight of men, and cunning craftiness

The True Church: (Eph. 4:15, 16)

Christ is the Head
We are the whole body
Fitly joined together
And compacted by –
That which every joint supplieth
According to the effectual working in the measure of every part.
Making increase of the body
To the edifying of itself in love.
Walk not as other Gentiles walk: (Eph. 4:17, 18)
In the vanity of their mind
Having the understanding darkened
Being alienated from the life of God ---
Because of blindness of their heart:

1. Identify your calling! _____________________________

2. Walk worthy of your calling!

Are you doing all you can to walk worthy of your calling?

Are you trying to walk outside your calling?

Or are you trying to be someone else’s calling?

Are we being the True Church?

When are we the True Church?

Page 6 The Churches Witness and Testimony

Matt. 5:13-16

I. Ye are the salt of the earth.

Salt = prudence (Greek) = cautious in behavior, practicing careful

management, acting in an advisory capacity. (Webster Dictionary)

Salt = Witness

Remember: Matt. 28:18-20, Acts 1:8,

I Thess. 2:9-10 ( Ye are witnesses )

The uses of salt:

A. It flavors: adds peace, joy, and happiness
B. It preserves: brings everlasting life
C. It burns: brings conviction and knowledge to sin
D. It heals: brings alive, by destroying the bad
The facts of salt:

*** Cautious Behavior:

If over used --- leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth
--- destroys everything and makes barren

*** Practicing careful management:

Matt. 28:18 We are to go under Christ’s power & leadership

*** Acting in an advisory capacity:

Matt. 28:20 --- teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you: and lo, I am with you alway ---

II. But if the salt have lost his savour

Note: we are cautioned about losing our witness

III. Ye are the light of the world --- let your light so shine --- that they see
your good works

Your good works --- integrity

Light = to make manifest – luminousness

= our testimony of Christ’s work in us

Integrity = doing what’s right even when no one is watching

A Disciple’s Mission Page 7

Matt. 9:35-10:10

I. The Example (Matt. 9:35)

A look at Jesus’ Ministry

* Jesus went about all the cities and villages

* Teaching and preaching the gospel of the Kingdom
* Healing every sickness and every disease among the people

II. The Need (Matt. 9:36-38)

But when Jesus saw the multitudes --- as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith
Jesus unto his disciples ---
 The harvest truly is plenteous
 But the labourers are few
 Pray ye therefore --- that he will send forth labourers—

III. The Call (Matt. 10:1)

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples.

Note: He names them by name, yet many followed.

IV. The Empowerment (Matt. 10:1)

--- he gave them Power
 against unclean spirits --- to cast them out
 to heal all manner of sickness and disease

V. The Mission (Matt. 10:7, 8)

And as you go --- Preach

 the kingdom of heaven is at hand
 Heal the sick
 Cleanse the lepers
 Raise the dead
 Cast out devils
 Freely ye have received freely give
Page 8 A Disciple’s Mission

VI. The Illustration (John 11: 14, 25-26, 43b, 44b)

A. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead

B. He that believeth in me though he were dead yet shall he live
C. Lazarus, come forth
D. Loose him, and let him go

Note:
Lazarus was bound in grave clothes, as so are we with sin.

If we want to continue the ministry of Christ today,

We must receive the power given.
Jesus will call people --- (even if bound by sin)
We must loose them.

Is this the ministry you find yourself in, or are you just following Jesus?

A. People are dead in their sins today.

B. They that believe in Christ though he were dead yet shall he live.

C. Lost soul, come forth.

D. Jesus tells you, loose him and let him go.

They are bound by the effects of sin that has them unable to get loose. Jesus
calls out to you, “Loose him, Loose him.”
Doing It God’s Way Works Page 9

Acts 2:36-47

How do we get started --- how do I know what to say or do, what do I have
to offer?

These are all questions that we might ask.

Matt. 9:37-38
Then saith he to his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the
labourers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers
into his harvest.

1. The giving of His message

Acts 2:36, Let all the house --- know assuredly, that God hath made the
same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and savior.

2. The Work of the Holy Spirit

Man has made it a policy to reject Jesus as Lord and Christ.
Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this,
They were pricked in their heart ---
And said --- what shall we do?

Fact: The spirit of God brings conviction.

3. Evangelism
The message will always be the same
Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized – everyone of you – for the
remission of sins
And ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you --- and your children --- and to
all that are afar off
Even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
The Outcome:
Acts 2:41 The same day there were added – about 3000 souls

4. Discipleship
Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in doctrine, fellowship,
breaking of bread, prayers.

Matt. 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you.
Page 10 Doing It God’s Way Works

5. Miracles
Acts 2:43--- and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles
Fact: everywhere Jesus went (ministered) --- people saw wonders and
signs

6. Commitment
Acts 2:46 --- and they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple ---

The Outcome:
Acts 2:47 And the Lord added to the Church daily such as should be
saved.
