Dear ____________________________, I request that my child, _________________________________, be withheld from the upcoming Oklahoma Core Curriculum Test for

7th grade Geography, which has been specifically designated as a field test by the State Department of Education. It is my understanding that my child will not receive scores for the test and that the teacher and school are not accountable in any way for the results of this assessment. My child is subjected to an excessive numbers of state standardized state tests every year. It is unacceptable that even more valuable classroom time be allocated to this field test. Furthermore, I object to my child being used as an unpaid subject by CTB-McGraw Hill and the State Education Department, who are essentially making my child a research subject for a for-profit corporation without my consent or permission. It is my understanding that there will be no negative consequences for the school if children do not take these field tests. I would respectfully request that the school not give the test at all, and that all students benefit from a day of instruction rather than waste yet another day on testing. If, however, the school does give the test, I expect that my child be allowed to attend regular classes during this time or provided an appropriate alternative activity of greater educational value. Sincerely

Dear ________________________________,

I request that my child, _________________________________, be withheld from any upcoming Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests that are specifically designated as field tests by the State Department of Education. This would include the field test for 8th grade Writing and the 8th grade United States History test. It is my understanding that my child will not receive scores for these tests and that the teacher(s) and school are not in any way accountable for the results of these assessments. My child is subjected to an excessive number of state standardized state tests every year. Excluding the field tests, children will be required to participate in five different testing sessions on five different days, totaling nearly ten hours of instructional time. It is unacceptable that even more valuable classroom time be allocated to these field tests. Furthermore, I object to my child being used as an unpaid subject by CTB-McGraw Hill and the State Education Department, who are essentially making my child a research subject for a for-profit corporation without my consent or permission. It is my understanding that there will be no negative consequences for the school if my child does not take these field tests. I would respectfully request that the school not give the test at all, and that all students benefit from a day of instruction rather than waste yet another day on testing. If, however, the school does give the tests, I expect that my child be allowed to attend regular classes during this time or provided an appropriate alternative activity of greater educational value.
