Sacrament of the Sick In the event of serious illness or medical emergency, Anointing of the Sick and Eucharist may be arranged by contacting the Parish Office. Call (949) 257-8017 for a medical emergency after 8 p.m. Sacrament of Baptism Parents of infants requesting information about Baptism may contact the Faith Formation Office, 496-6011. Infant Baptisms are celebrated on the first and third Sunday of each month following catechesis for parents and godparents of candidates. Celebration of Christian Funerals At the time of death, a family member should contact the parish office, as soon as possible, to arrange the date and time for the Funeral Liturgy. Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Adults requesting information about full initiation and communion with the Roman Catholic Church (the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) may contact the Faith Formation Office , 4966011. Sacrament of Matrimony The Sacrament presumes active sacramental participation on the part of one or both persons. Couples must begin preparation for their Sacrament at least six months prior to their proposed wedding date. Please call the Parish Office for more information. Eucharistic Adoration On the first and third Monday of each month we gather in prayer and praise before the Blessed Sacrament. Pastoral Council Seeks Four New Members

Dear Fellow Parishioner, The St. Edward the Confessor/San Felipe de Jesus Pastoral Council invites you to consider becoming a future member of the Council. The Council is seeking four new members, each to serve a three-year term, beginning in July 2013. The purpose of the Council is to provide to the Pastor advice and guidance on the spiritual wellbeing of our Parish. It is not a decision-making body, but rather connects with the Parish at large and comes to a consensus on recommendations for the Pastor to further the faith-life of our Parish. In addition to providing the Pastor with timely advice on current issues, the Council provides leadership and counsel by assisting in the development of the Parish Mission Statement and holding parish assemblies to discern parish spiritual goals. We are now seeking those who are willing to share their gifts for the spiritual growth of our faith community. If you are interested and would like to receive more information, we invite you to attend one of two information sessions and the Pastoral Council meeting on April 23rd. A morning session will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 9:00 a.m. in the church meeting room, which is located outside of the church, adjacent to the restrooms. An evening information session will be held in the school lunch room on Tuesday, April 23rd at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by a Pastoral Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. A timeline of the application process is attached. Your willingness to consider serving our Parish as a Pastoral Council member is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact any current Pastoral Council member (listed below) if you have questions or if you would like to know more about the Council and its ministry.

Potential applicants are welcome to attend. School lunch room. Applications are due to the Pastor. Please deliver your application in a sealed envelope addressed to the Pastor to the church office. Queridos feligreses; El Consejo Pastoral de San Eduardo el Confesor/ San Felipe de Jess le invita a considerar convertirse en un futuro miembro del Consejo. El Consejo est buscando cuatro nuevos miembros, cada uno por un periodo de tres aos, al principio de Julio del 2013. El propsito del Consejo es dar recomendaciones al Prroco y ofrecer una gua para el bienestar espiritual de nuestra parroquia. No es un grupo que toma decisiones sino ms bien se conecta con la parroquia en general y llega a un acuerdo con el Prroco de fomentar la vida de fe en nuestra parroquia. Adems de proporcionar al Prroco asesoramiento sobre temas en la actualidad, el Concejo proporciona liderazgo y asesora, ayudando al desarrollo de la parroquia y de la celebracin de las asambleas parroquiales para discernir los objetivos espirituales de la parroquia. Ahora estamos buscando a personas que estn dispuestas a compartir sus dones a favor del crecimiento espiritual de esta comunidad de fe. Traces of Grace
Dear Fellow Parishioners; July 1, 2013 will bring change to our parish community. Your pastor will have grown taller, learned how to sing well, play the guitar, lose weight and hair too. And, of course, his name will change to Fr. Brendan Manson. And not only that, the senior parochial vicar will lose his beard, shorten his hair, and, .....well, I best not go any farther with this description! (The official announcement of Fr. Chris's replacement has not been made yet). And Fr. Mario will become the most experienced priest of our parish! July 1, 2013 will change my life in that I have been invited to become the Vicar General of the Diocese. This means I will leave St. Edward to work at our Diocesan offices. What exactly this all means, honestly, I am not sure, but I am open to the challenges and opportunities to assist Bishop Vann in his ministry. Fr. Chris' life will change in that he is becoming a pastor again. He is heading to the other end of Orange County to become the pastor of St. Hedwig's in Los Alamitos. Most of us folks who have been down the block a bit realize that change is part of all of our lives. It is in the nature of the human experience. But that being said, it can bring with it anxiety, uncertainly, even fear. But with a bit of faith, confidence and patience, change can be dealt with and even experienced with expectation and anticipation. You have created with the Holy Spirit a tremendous parish community. You have been through lots of changes in the past and come through it with style and grace. You will do so again. We still have a few months together so I look forward to appreciating all that I have been able to experience with you over these past 11 years. I look forward to introducing Fr. Brendan to this community and I know that the change in his life will be a blessing for him and for you. Together in Christ;

Rasgos de Gracia
Queridos feligreses; El 1ro de julio del 2013 habr un cambio a nuestra comunidad parroquial. Su Prroco ha crecido, ha aprendido a cantar bien, a tocar la guitarra, perdi de peso y perdi su pelo tambin. Y, por supuesto, su nombre cambiar a Brendan Manson su nuevo Prroco. Y no slo eso, el vicario parroquial mayor perder su barba, se cotara el pelo, y,.....Bueno, es mejor no entrar en detalles! (El anuncio oficial de la sustitucin del Pbro. Chris no se ha hecho todava).Y ahora el Pbro. Mario ser el sacerdote con ms experiencia en nuestra parroquia! El 1ro de julio mi vida dar un cambio ser el Vicario General de la Dicesis. Esto significa que dejare a San Eduardo para trabajar en nuestras oficinas diocesanas. Qu significa todo esto, sinceramente, no estoy seguro, pero estoy abierto a los desafos y oportunidades para ayudar al Obispo Vann con su ministerio. La vida del Pbro. Chris tambin tendr un cambio, l ser el Prroco de otra iglesia. El se ir al otro extremo del Condado de Orange a convertirse en el Prroco de St. Hedwig en Los Alamitos. Todos nosotros sabemos que los cambios son parte de nuestra vida. Esto es parte de la naturaleza y de la experiencia humana. Esto tambin puede traer consigo ansiedad, incertidumbre e incluso miedo. Pero con un poco de fe, confianza y paciencia, la experiencia de este nuevo cambio debe ser tratada con alegra y buena expectativa. Ustedes han creado junto con el Espritu Santo, una tremenda comunidad parroquial. Ustedes han pasado por muchos cambios en el pasado y los han superado con mucho estilo y gracia. Ustedes lo harn nuevamente. Todava tenemos algunos meses juntos, as que espero poder apreciar todo lo que he experimentado con ustedes durante estos ltimos 11aos. It is our hope that here, within a loving spiritual environment, you will find companions who will walk alongside you on your grief journey. We would like to invite you to join us for our first meeting on Tuesday, April 16th at 7 P.M. The group will meet on Tuesday evening for six weeks (April 16-May 21). FATHER SURPRISED BY PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRYS GIFT

When Father Mario came to bless newly knitted prayer shawls and lap blankets he was surprised when the Prayer Shawl Ministry presented him with his own blanket. The Prayer Shawl Ministry comes together every Friday to knit, chat, and pray for the sick, the homebound and those in need of comfort who receive its prayer shawls and lap blankets. Since forming the ministry last year, the group has knit and gifted almost 100 prayer shawls and lap blankets. New members, even those interested in learning how to knit, are welcome to join this ministry on Fridays between 9 11 a.m. in the Church Meeting Room. If you would like to support this ministry and its outreach, donations of newer skeins of yarn or money to buy yarn will be gratefully accepted and put to good use.
