It's All About Me

In today's culture the theme is it's all about me. Therefore I made this little poem about the modern mind set. "It's all about me, Can't you see? It doesn't matter if I was made by something Godly, or simply evolved from a monkey. The reality from the view point of eternity, is that it's not all about me." John the Baptist spoke about the importance of Jesus in his life. "He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30 And we too must follow John's example. We know anything apart from God is vanity. "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit." Ecclesiastes 1:14 There is nothing wrong with having a personal Savior or serving God out of a self interest or desire. Peter said to 3,000 repentant Jews who wanted salvation, to repent and be baptized into the name Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. That is because we all must save ourselves from this ungodly generation of people. Acts 2:38-41 Yet we must not place our interests or ways above his word or way. Jesus said that he alone had life, and was the only or solitary way, truth or path to God. John 14:6 Today we find there are many things, maybe too many things to keep our attention focused on things of the self. There's Twitter, Facebook and Myspace among other things. These are all good social pages found on the internet, but they tend to become self serving things for many. In the last days of final times prior to the return of Christ, we find that Paul wrote to Timothy these things. "This know also, that in the last days perilous [dangerous] times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high minded [proud], lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power [Jesus] thereof: from such turn away." 2 Timothy 3:1-5

We find that the word sin has the letter "I" in it's center. Satan declared his five "I Will's" in the book of Isaiah. "For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?" Isaiah 14:13-17 Jesus said, "Not my will, but thine, be done." Luke 22:42 This submissive outlook must be ours. We should focus on this, though such behavior will seem strange or even repulsive to some, in this culture of self as king instead of Christ being that in our hearts and lives. We ought to look upon the Lord, who is author and finisher of our faith. "Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of [power] the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2 In the natural world whatever we look at, we turn to or follow. And this is especially true when we are driving any type of vehicle. So whether we set our affections on this world, ourselves or God, wherever we place our attention on is the thing that we will follow. Consider this fact. If we live for our own selfish desires, we then must also pay for our own sins. (Romans 3:23) As the wages for sin is death, but the gift is eternal life that is found in Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:23; Galatians 2:20; Philippians 1:21) He or she that lives for their own ways or self, will indeed die eternally. Those who sow in sin reap corruption. (Galatians 6:7-9) But those who love not their own lives unto the death, will inherit all things, even eternal glory and life. (Revelations 12:11)

We are that city set upon the hill, that's brightly shining forth as a light in the night. I remember when I was going to Las Vegas, Nevada. Many miles before I entered into that city, I saw it's lights afar off in the distant desert area before ever nearing it. "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising." Isaiah 60:1-3 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Matthew 5:16 "Let your loins [waists] be girded (encircled or prepared for action) about, and your lamps burning." Luke 12:37 follow.

In the end either we will become a saint or remain a self-serving sinner. The choice is entirely ours.
