Interviewing with people about the condition of the existing drainage system; 3. Dataand information collecting around the flooding area : a) Loss of flood effect; b) Frequency of flooding every year; c) The boundaries of flooding. The secondary data includes :

What should I do for fulfilling the below conditions in order to create a master plan of drainage system in A city : Sustainability Konsep dasar pengembangan drainase berkelanjutan adalah meningkatkan daya guna air, meminimalkan kerugian, memperbaiki dan konservasi lingkungan, serta mencapai keberhasilan dalam operasi dan pemeliharaan hasil pembangunan sistem drainase. Diperlukan usaha-usaha komprehensif dan integratif yang meliputi seluruh proses, baik yang bersifat struktural maupun non struktural untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut. Improvement of people economy Diperlukan analisis ekonomi agar investasi yang ditanamkan dapat memberikan tingkat keuntungan yang memadai. Perencanaan drainase yang matang dapat memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat berupa : 1) Peningkatan nilai lahan; 2) Peningkatan kegiatan ekonomi masyarakat 3) Peningkatan kesehatan lingkungan dan masyarakat; 4) Pengurangan gangguan lalu lintas; 5) Penghematan pemeliharaan jalan; 6) Pengurangan kerugian akibat banjir pada permukiman, sarana/prasarana kota, tambak/sawah, industri, kegitan ekonomi, perbaikan kesehatan masyarakat Keuntungan yang tidak dapat dinilai dengan uang meliputi rasa aman, kenyamanan, estetika, kesehatan lingkungan.

Solving the inundation or flooding problems Perencanaan sistem drainase harus dilakukan secara menyeluruh dalam satu DAS (Daerah Aliran Sungai); Penaganan banjir di hulu harus diikuti dengan penanganan banjir di hilir; Prioritas utama untuk mengelola limpasan permukaan dengan cara mengembangkan fasiltas untuk menahan air hujan (rainfall retention facilities) berdasarkan fingsinya.
