Master of Rehabilitation Sciences
and Physiotherapy
The programme prepares graduates who can fulfil policy-
making and leadership functions in the health care and
rehabilitation sciences.
The major aim of the two-year master's programme, and
its different study trajectories in the second year, is to train
physiotherapists in the expert knowledge, insight, skills,
and professional attitude needed in rehabilitation sciences
and physiotherapy:
• The certified holder of the Master of Rehabilitation
Sciences and Physiotherapy will be able to apply
evidence-based physiotherapy in global health care.
Patient assessment and intervention programmes will
be developed through clinical reasoning and critical
scientific reflection.
• The certified holder of the Master of Rehabilitation
Sciences and Physiotherapy will be able to set up and
conduct clinical and applied research independently.

• The certified holder of the Master of Rehabilitation Sciences
and Physiotherapy will specialize in one of the following
fields: sports physiotherapy, manual therapy, paediatric
rehabilitation, neuromotor rehabilitation, internal
disorders or mental health.
The Master of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy
programme is organized in collaboration with the other Flemish
universities, making this programme highly specialized. The
Faculty of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Sciences organizes
the following graduating sections: musculoskeletal rehabilitation
sciences and physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation sciences
and physiotherapy, paediatric rehabilitation sciences and
physiotherapy, rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy
in mental health care and rehabilitation sciences and
physiotherapy for internal disorders.
Studying at our faculty means studying in a pleasant
environment. Situated in the green surroundings of Arenberg
Park (Heverlee), the faculty also boasts sports facilities,
a student restaurant (Alma 3), and university housing.

Admission requirements
You are interested in rehabilitation sciences and
physiotherapy in general, and are motivated to study
this domain from scientific perspective.
You possess the physical capacity needed to obtain
the necessary skills. You are socially minded. You have
a critical and active attitude towards the subject material
and the learning process.

After graduation, you will have a strong theoretical and

Depending upon the background of the student,

the online platform and summer school will be mandatory.
Students should give proof of sufficient understanding of
written and spoken English by presenting a score on a
language test (e.g., TOEFL or IELTS). Further information

You take eighteen credits from the master's courses,
ten credits from the optional courses, twenty-six internship
credits, twenty-four credits from the master's thesis,
and forty-two credits from one of the five graduating sections.

committee. Students should submit their choices before the 15th of October (ISP) for approval to the subcommittee
of the standing educational committee.
