GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICES

The following general terms and conditions of services apply to all the employees besides other rules and regulations that may be framed and notified by the company from time to time inm various other subjects.

Classifications of employees shall be generally classified as under:

1. Regular employees 2. Temporary employees 3. Casual employees 4. Probationer employees 5. Apprentice /Trainee under BHEL Scheme

1) REGULAR EMPLOYEES: Regular employees is an employee who has been engaged in vacancy on the regular establishment of the company and who has

satisfactorily completed his probationary period of service and whose employment in regular service has been confirmed in writing. 2) TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES: Temporary employee is an employee who is engaged on a temporary nature and likely to be completed within a stipulated period. 3) CASUAL EMPLOYEE: Casual employee is an employee who is employed on occasional or casual nature base. Occasional means for some duration but not permanent.

4) PROBATIONER EMPLOYEE: Probationer employees are employees who are provisionally employed with a view to being for appointment on regular establishment of the company. 5) APPRENTICE /TRAINEE: Apprentice/Trainee is a learner who is paid a stipend/pay or placed in a grade as may be decided by the management, during the period of Apprentice/Training. An employee may also after attaining the age of 55 year, opt to retire voluntarily from the service of giving one and a half months notice subject to necessary clearance including vigilance clearance.

SENIORITY :: Seniority shall be determined by the merit order assigned by the selection board. The seniority of person whose service are obtained on deputation and who is subsequently absorbed in the service of the company without break shall be determined with reference to the date of joining the existing post initially on deputation.

Seniority of employees recruited, as trainee shall be determined with reference to the merit order in which they are placed as a result of their performance.

HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME:: Every employee of the company shall be required to work 48 hours a week i.e daily 8 hours an employee has to work. The Management reserves the right to require any employee to work overtime including work on weelkly holiday in accordance with the instruction issued from time to time. TRANSFER :: Employee shall be transferred at the discretion of the management from one work/department/section/station to another provide that in doing so the management shall keep in view the suitability of the employee concerned is protected. Similarly employer shall be liable to

be transferred to any office/unit/department/project of the company as also to any of the division of the government of India or any other public sector undertaking.

INFRASTRUCTURE STRENGTH :: Aiming to achieve and sustain product excellence, BHEL-EDN has cut no corners in establishing comprehensive world-class facilities for its entire range of products. The main assembly shops, test laboratories and other manufacturing shops are well equipped with stateof-the-art facilities for reliable manufacturing and testing operations.

The fabrication shop with CNC machines transforms sheet metal into panels ready for assembly as cabinets. The surface finishing shop contain facilities for surface treatment and finishing or various parts of the control cubicle.

The modern totally air-conditioned PCB sub-assembly shop with antistatic flooring is suitably equipped for manufacturing a testing of all types of printed circuit assemblies and electronic modules. A range of semi-automatic component preparation and assembly units, computercontrolled wave soldering machines etc., has greatly enhanced the manufacturing capability. The facilities in the PCB test area include computerized testing of components using in-circuit tester and environmental chambers for thermal cycling.

The main equipment testing (section testing) includes facilities for functional test, short circuit and temperature rise test, power loss, determination test, testing of breakers and relays and testing of functional behavior under close-loop and open-loop conditions. A

number of specialized setups exist for functional testing of electronic control systems through simulation. controlled have also been installed. In some actual systems to be

A modern Surface Mount Technology [SMT] line with screen printer pick & place machine, re-flow oven, inspection station has been established to augment facilities for manufacturing electronic modules with high density surface mounted components. A facility to check and identify the functionality of the modules has been installed. This facility is equipped with test racks, fixtures and module specific test programs enables comprehensive functional testing of modules and also reduces cycle time of testing on individual manufactured modules. Oven with a facility to control temperature has been installed. This facility interfaces to monitoring racks for on line monitoring of electronic modules.

Power semiconductor devices manufacturing facilities include ultra-clean areas for manufacturing, testing and even storage of materials and form one of the finest facilities in the country. The state-of-the art

Solar Photovoltaic manufacturing line has sophisticated equipment for the manufacture of solar cells and PV modules.

A sub assembly-engineering group provides vital support for design,development and prototype testing of electronic modules as per system engineering requirements. The facilities available include a fullfledged electronic design automation center using erasable

programmable logic design tool [EPLD], Field programmable gate array [FPGA], Digital signal processor design tool [DSPs] Computer aided design, Finite element analysis, Special type tests, CD-ROM based component library, etc. As on line search facility ensures latest information/access to technical articles, patents, company information, market research etc..

Defense related products/system are manufactured in line with international standards, at the modern, well-equipped and totally airconditioned shops at Electronic System Division, Electronics City,

Bangalore. BHEL-EDN has a strong team of highly efficient and experienced engineers to carry out installed and commissioning works, as well as site support activities. The term is always on is toes for the emergency calls from customers not only in India but also from every nook and corner of the globe. Restoration of operation in shortest possible period at Srisailam HEP (AP) submerged in floodwaters at

A full-fledged IT & S centre has a local area network connecting over 1000 nodes through optic fibre linked file servers, which are extensively used for data processing and management information system. EDN is connected with other units and various project sites offices through VPN (on 1MB leased line). Electronic mail for both internal & external communication as well as connectivity through Internet also exists.

The factory services department is well equipped to control pollution, efficiently. It also maintain greenery in and around the plant, thus creating an environment friendly atmosphere throughout the year.

A technical information center has an exhaustive range of books and periodicals sourced from across the globe, providing latest information/updates on various subjects.

A state of the art demo has been set up, with DCS workstations connected to large video screens (LVS) and typical max DNA control panels compete with requisite modules and communication hardware. This facility is used for conducting presentations to

customer/.consultants and also augmented by a separate state-of-the-art training room to impart hands on training inputs.
