DearPresidentSaunders, theDeanofStudentsOffice, andtheBoardofTrustees, Thank you for meeting with us on multiple occasions in the past seven weeks. As discussed, thepurposeof meetingwas toinvestigate your alleged involvement inconduct that may have constituted a violation of Florida Atlantic Universitys Code of Conduct, Regulation 4.007. It was alleged that you were involved in several incidents during the Spring 2013 semester involving (i) interference with academic freedom and freedom of speech of any member of the University, (ii) providing false information to University officials, (iii) postingof commercialadvertising or engaging incommercialactivity without appropriate authorization, (iv) endangering the health, safety or welfare of members or guests of the University, (v) any act which could constitute a violation of any local law or ordinance, State of Florida or Federal law, and (vi) knowingly falsifying, distorting or misrepresentinginformationbeforeastudentconductproceeding. TheUniversitysupportsandencouragesyourrighttoadministeroverstudentsandfaithfully perform your duties as entrusted members of the Florida Atlantic community, subject to University regulations, policies, and procedures.YourbehaviorthroughouttheSpring2013 semesterhascontinuouslydisregarded the wellbeing oftheUniversity community.Based onreports, as well as discussions withwitnessesand Universityofficials, whatbeganasa wellintentioned acceptance of a donation escalated into an inappropriate and unprecedented namingrights contract with human rights violator and private prison profiteer the GEO Group. Following that decision, your attempts to silence and/or intimidate students, faculty, and staff interferedwith our right tospeak freely. Youractions endangered and injured onestudent inparticular, andjeopardized thesafety and integrity of many members of the University. When your actions were called into question, you chose to omit and manipulate evidence to support your claims instead of taking responsibility for your actions. The University members investigated on April 5 had their sworn witness statements used against them, which constitutes another violation of the Code of Conduct. Furthermore, the conclusion presented in the letter from the Dean of Students office regarding the proceedings entirely ignored the testimony presented and

pictures furnished at the meetings. This type of behavior is unacceptable and willnotbe toleratedunderanycircumstances. We take this opportunity to express our disappointment with your behavior during the Spring 2013 semester. While the community at large continues to investigate your involvement withallof the controversiesofthissemester,we hopethatyoucanappreciate the impact that the incidents have hadonthestudents, faculty, and otheradministratorsat FloridaAtlantic University. We expect you to consultthemembersoftheinstitutionthatyou represent before forging future partnerships. We expect that in the future, testimonies of University officials will rely on the facts and thatofficials will do their due diligence before affording orrequestingapologiesfromothermembersofthecommunity. Finally, weexpect you to value the testimony of those who you represent, comply withthe Code ofConduct and other University policies and procedures, aswell as local andstatelaw, andthat you willgovernyourselfaccordingly. The general public and police department havenot concluded their investigations anddo notconsiderthismatterclosed. Sincerely, TheSilentMajorityatFAU
