About Fragblast 10
The FRAGBLAST (short form of Rock Fragmentation by Blasting) conferences are the worldwide forum for scientific and technical update on all aspects of rock blasting and explosives engineering: rock fracture and fragmentation, explosives system design, tests and procedures, detonics, blast design, tunneling, blast vibrations and noise, numerical modeling, blast diagnostics, mine economics, etc. Through their history, beginning in 1983, the FRAGBLAST conferences have served the blasting community with an unparalleled combination of scientific advances and practical applications. The most wellknown models, diagnostic tools and procedures, and sound practices have been presented in the FRAGBLAST symposia, representing a unique opportunity for exchanging knowledge, ideas and experiences among the participants. The proceedings of the FRAGBLAST symposia are to be found on the desks of researchers, consultants, field engineers and blasters. The FRAGBLAST community has been associated with the International Society for Rock Mechanics as Commission on Fragmentation by Blasting. Currently, it is a section of the International Society of Explosives Engineers. Its main goal is to promote understanding of explosive-rock interaction through exchange of research and field experiences in rock blasting. In the spirit of being truly international meetings, the FRAGBLAST Symposia have been shared among countries and continents through the years. The first symposium was held in Sweden in 1983 and since then it has been convened at intervals of 3-4 years at different locations around the world. These locations, selected by a standing International Committee from among several competing submissions, are chosen on the basis of prominence of mining activities and R&D initiatives of the host country. The 10th International Symposium on Rock Fragmentation by Blasting FRAGBLAST 10 is scheduled to be held in New Delhi during November 24 - 29, 2012. The Fragblast Symposia represent the most important event in disseminating the latest advances in the science and technology of rock fragmentation by blasting and other related means.
