CYA SUPPORTS RAMA-LABELLA TANDEM

Cebuano Youth Ambassadors (CYA) is a premiere youth volunteer organization for youth empowerment and development that aims to make Cebu a community of young leaders. The group, with more than 70 members, is currently composed mostly of current and former student leaders who want to make an impact in the community. One of the spearheaded programs of CYA is "Basuraskwela" that encourages the government, non-government organizations, private institutions and companies to surrender their used tarpaulins and will be recycled into customized Basuraskwela bags, wallets and other usable items. Through that project, CYA was awarded as one of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awardees for 2012 by the Office of the President and the National Youth Commission. The group was also awarded with the National Coke Barkada Award for 2012 by the Coca Cola Philippines Foundation during the said event. The Cebu City Government, under the leadership of our current Mayor, has provided its utmost support in all of our endeavors in CYA and we are very thankful of that. His mission is to bring back the trust and confidence of the youth on the Government and we support that. We can attest that he believes in the ability of the youth to bring change especially in Cebu City. He has been very supportive of different youth initiatives and giving the youth a free hand and guidance in youth activities. That is just a few of the reasons why we support the re-election bid of Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, the Peoples Mayor. On the other hand, though we have not worked personally with him, we believe in his capacity to serve as our next Vice Mayor. A No. 1 Councilor in Cebu City North District, a British Council Scholar, a former Ombudsman Director, a former Sandiganbayan Prosecutor and a lawyer who made the barangay justice system accessible for the poor, we believe that he can even exceed the performance and qualifications of our current Vice Mayor. With his credibility, honesty, and integrity, we endorse Councilor Edgardo Labella as our next Cebu City Vice Mayor. After decades of enduring mediocrity we can look forward to the dynamic duo of Mayor Mike and Vice Mayor Edgar to run our city the way it should be run.
