STREGNTH WEAKNESSES OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FACED DURING SEMESTER PATTERN

STREGNTH:1) Because of semester pattern there is proper division of subject in one year as the subject is divided into 2 semester which helps in reducing burden which is usually faced when annual pattern was followed. 2) Semester pattern increases the learning capacity of the student

WEAKNESSES:In semester pattern results come late because of which student find it difficult they can not apply in other institute for further studies. Semester pattern are very time consuming. if sometime exams delay due to certain circumstance it takes lot of time to complete one year. If sometime semester conducted late it takes lot of time to announce result.

OPPORTUNITIES:-

Semester system is good for learning and there will be lot of scope to study the subjects methodically. A student of semester scheme will be exposed to a wide range of topics, which will be useful for their career in future. But in annual scheme, students tend to delay studies and dont get such exposure. I don't find any problem here as I studied BCom under semester scheme.

CHALLENGES:The challange is what heckles the teachers. University administrators were professors once, and they are well aware of how long it takes to revise the syllabi. It is lengthy and slightly inefficient, but time-tested. Over the course of revising the syllabi, teachers meet over and over again to sort out the finer details. The result has been some of the best curricula in the country. So what if they take three years each to make, ask teachers. The semester system, on the other hand, has tried to do away with these procedures. The haste has never been explained, and it clearly threatens to break something that is not broken. Teachers have been merely asked to bifurcate, compress courses, or even drop some papers in some cases. The university administration has made no attempt to explain the haste.

NEWSPAPER AND JOURNALS READ ON REGULAR BASIS:I usually read HINDUSTAN TIMES and sometimes THE HINDU.
