Series: Renewing Your Faith: The Jesus Christ Supremacy
Title: Jesus Is God
8:00AM Traditional & 10:45AM Celebration | Pastor Mike Rose
10:45AM The River | Pastor Curt De Graaff

Who’s on First?
If you aren’t old enough to recognize Abbott and Costello,
they are preserved on YouTube. If you are familiar with the
comedy of Abbott and Costello, YouTube is an internet site with
a wide range of videos. Comedians Bud Abbott and Lou Costello
performed a famous comedy routine trying to identify “Who’s
on first” base on the baseball team. As believers it is easy to get
confused about “who’s on first”, or who occupies first place in
your life.
Charles Ringma, a theologian and author, identifies three
things that shift our focus from “Who’s on first?” First, we easily
lapse into forgetfulness and fail to remember why we are so
busily doing what preoccupies us; second, we lose the central
core of the meaning of our existence and proceed to create all
sorts of substitutes (idols); and third, we become so dominated by
what concerns us that we fail to maintain a holistic perspective
on life.
Activities…idols…preoccupations…The Bible tells us that
Jesus is to have first place (be on first) in our lives. This week we
explore what place He occupies in yours.
