The world of the Idea or the Intelligible world and the world of Material or the Visible world are

the two things that Plato believes constitutes reality. He believes that the world of Ideas or Forms constitutes the highest and most basic form of expression of reality. Whereas the Material world merely shadows Ideas and is perceived though our five senses which is only secondary to Ideas because the former is subject to change, and therefore, is imperfect and inferior relative to Perfect and Absolute Ideas. In basic terms, the world of material is the reality before us whereas the world of the idea is basically ideals or our view or perception of reality. In a more physical sense, material would be a chair. It would eventually change and then decay whereas the Idea would be its perfect form, right inside our thought, indestructible and everlasting. In a more metaphorical sense, its like for 30 years of m y life, I have been living underground (a representation of the physical or world of material), and has been forced to go to the surface, I head out but then the light coming from the surface would surprise me and would take my eyes quite a while to adjust to, a gradual process that is a metaphor for education or enlightenment. In this sense, the world of daylight is your world of Idea. When my eyes have adjusted to the source of light and life and I have gained understanding of it, this becomes the symbolic idea of the Good in the Realm. As an individual, Platos perception I believe is still significant in society today. Us, being humans that are educated to further understand life, all that surrounds us and our very own purpose, we begin to further understand the material world or the visible world. As before being merely an object in which we see its physical attributes or maybe even its regular motion or behavior as we take into account the world of the idea or the intelligible world, we begin to understand why we see certain colors, why a certain animal behaves as such and how life is interconnect in all sorts. Which exactly leads to Platos idea that those who have been enlightened or have received education has a responsibility towards those who have not. For reason or logic, at the end of the day makes us understand the workings of the world and the needs of those that surround us, the many factors that contribute to their current state. Being that it is not merely a task they must take on but also of those that are partly responsible for their state. As we continue to have ideas, we create more for we understand more, and in the course to understanding life, one could never stop at merely understanding ones self but must go forth and understand the entirety of humanity.
