Keep Your Pet & the Community Safe License Your Pet
All dogs residing in Burlingame must be vaccinated against rabies and licensed by the age of 4 months or within 60 days of moving into the City. The County of San Mateo recommends licensing cats as well. Licensing your pets helps ensure their safe return if they are lost and provides an important reminder to vaccinate dogs against rabies. Funds from licensing fees also help pay for animal shelters and control services in the City. Licensing of dogs is also the law and failure to do so can result in fines and penalties. For more information on pet licensing, please visit the San Mateo County Health Systems website at www.smchealth.org/animallicensing or call 650-573-2690 or 650-340-8200.

Since 1982 we have taught thousands of children, kindergarten-6th grade, the safe-use of woodworking hand-tools. After first building their sanding block and supertop, kids may choose from a wide variety of fun projects including: boats, clocks, games, trucks, doll furniture, and many more. While building their projects from scratch children are introduced to concepts like applied math, problem-solving, fine motor skills, and empowered to become independent thinkers. Our motto: Building confidence and teaching with respect and humor in a safe and happy environment. Developed by the American Association of Retired Persons (A.A.R.P.), Driver Safety Program is the first comprehensive driver retraining course geared to the specific needs of older motorists. The course material covers the effects of aging and medications on driving, basic driving rules, license renewal, local traffic hazards, adverse road conditions, energy saving, and accident prevention measures. Research shows that older drivers are involved in no more accidents than their middle-age counterparts when the record is based on actual miles driven. However, research also indicates that older persons can improve their driving abilities through additional training, attention, and practice, enabling them to maintain their driving licenses longer while driving safer. California enacted legislation in 1987 requiring all automobile insurance companies to provide a discount to graduates of state-approved driver improvement courses. A.A.R.P.s Driver Safety Program is an approved course. 2 classes Location: Recreation Center 21411.01 M/Tu 8:30 am-12:30 pm 8/26-8/27 Fee: $12

Most of southern and western Marin County is included within the boundaries of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, visited by over seven million people each year, due to it's proximity to the large urban population of the Bay Area. On this daytrip, we will visit the National Park Service Visitor's Center, and head for the Marine Mammal Center in Rodeo Valley, just inland from the Pacific Ocean, where a docent will lead us on an incredible journey through a very special place that cares for all kinds of marine creatures, from birth to health problems. Following this, we will head through a tunnel to Sausalito, with some time for lunch and shopping. In the afternoon, we will head up the Marin Headlands to Hawk Hill and find some incredible vistas of the San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean, all accessed on trails leading to old WW II disappearing cannon sites. This will be a day you will long remember, as we pass a former Nike Missile site led by a docent. No host lunch. 21001.01 Th 9:00 am-4:00 pm 5/16 Fee: $67R/$78NR
Two of the most beautiful communities in our state are Belvedere and Tiburon, in southern Marin County, just across the Golden Gate Bridge. On this outing, we will head north to spend the day on the Tiburon Peninsula, first visiting the beautiful and historic China Cabin, the "social saloon" of an ocean liner. This fully-restored remnant of a once-great ship is the last of its kind in the world. A docent will tell us of the fascinating history of the Cabin, and we will enjoy incredible views of San Francisco Bay and The City. Following this, Gary will lead us on a short walk along the Belvedere shoreline and Ark Row, where old pleasure boats of the rich have been pulled ashore and turned into shops and housing. This will lead us to downtown Tiburon, where we will break for lunch. From lunch, we will visit the shoreline Donahue Building, home to a fully-executed model of the original Northwestern Pacific Railroad terminal and early village of Tiburon by the Bay. From here, we head up the hill to visit Old St. Hilary's Catholic church, a local landmark surrounded by a unique and valuable native plant area. We will have docents to interpret for us at both the railroad model and at the church. No host lunch. 21004.01 Th 9:00 am-4:00 pm 8/8 Fee: $63R/$73NR

This is Californias heartland and we will head for the very special and historic village of Locke, founded over 100 years ago as the only rural settlement for Chinese-Americans ever established in the USA. We will walk around town and find unique shops and restaurants and narrow back lanes.Lunch will offer us a break from our wanderings, and will be at Guistis, an old Italian place of great charm, and known locally as a Delta Dive with fabulous food. Our return route will bring us back through more scenic roads to the Bay Area. Price includes lunch at Guistis. 21003.01 Th 8:00 am-6:00 pm 7/25 Fee: $85R/$100NR

The City of Vallejo was founded in the early 1850's to be our second State Capital, following San Jose. Within a year, the United States Navy established its first naval base on the Pacific Coast, with a young David Glasgow Farragut as commanding officer. This base was to build and repair ships for the navy. On this trip, we will drive around downtown Vallejo, finding a very wonderful Victorian home neighborhood, including a fabulous mansion designed by Julia Morgan, and one of the oldest Catholic churches in our state. Our focus for the day will be St. Peter's Chapel, on Mare Island, which is now owned by the City of Vallejo. A local history docent will unlock the Chapel for us and tell us of its "crown jewel": over 20 authentic Tiffany stained-glass windows, all gifts from Navy families. We will drive around the various parts of the Island, and visit the oldest ship drydock on the Pacific Coast, and the oldest military industrial buildings in the American West. Price includes lunch at Sardine Can. 21005.01 Th 9:00 am-4:00 pm 8/22 Fee: $81R/$95NR
