Executive Summary

Internet is enabling business without barriers in a borderless world. As customers get more demanding, competition gets more intense and product life-cycles shrink, there is increasing pressure on operating margins. The complexity of global cross border business management presents new challenges as companies try harder to stay agile, profitable and innovative. Business processes need to be flexible and adaptable to enable people to respond faster to changing business needs. Business Processes through Internet mitigates risks for the customer as it is not city-specific or geography-dependent and allows more freedom and flexibility in decision-making and operations during the business process. It allows businesses to learn, adapt, grow and evolve while ensuring predictability in quality and delivery in their business processes. Few years ago if we want to go out of town by bus then we need to visit the Travel Agency for which we have to take out time for visiting the travel agency. Before going to travel agency we need to have the sufficient cash with us to buy tickets. Even for the cancellation of the ticket we have to visit again to the travel agency. Nobody had ever thought that ticket booking would be so convenient with the help of Internet. With the introduction of e-travel websites ticket booking had become much easier and convenient. It has enabled us with the facility to book ticket being anywhere from desktop or cellphone by paying for the ticket via debit or credit card via safe payment gateway. In this project report Ive studied the feasibility, design & development of E-travel agency. This project was concerned with research and analysis of available e-travel websites and scope of the development new e-travel site at QMS Academy, Mumbai.

Purpose For the internet to realize its full marketing potential, travel agencies need a welldesigned e-travel site. Yet the attributes that affect customers' perceptions leading to acceptance of e-travel sites are still unclear. This study seeks to focus on why users accept or reject e-travel sites and how users' acceptance is affected by three widely recognized features of sites relevant

information content, information quality, and functionality needs service. Design/methodology/approach The study analyzed a survey of 200 users of Mumbai (India) e-travel sites to test the hypothesized expanded technology acceptance model. Findings The empirical results indicate that the information content, information quality and functionality service of e-travel sites strongly determine the perceived ease of use. Relevant information content and information quality also strongly determine perceived usefulness, which in turn leads to the behavioral intention to use e-travel sites. Originality/value The findings of the study suggest that web site information must be sufficiently provided, quickly expanded and constantly updated to maintain correct and current content to meet users' information needs as well as an appropriate assistance function to provide good levels of web-based customer service. These attributes should satisfy visitors, making them likely to revisit e-travel sites. The information which Ive got through data from research and then analysis of that data, helped a lot in evaluating the feasibility, designing the apt model and developing the application with required attributes.

System Analysis

System Analysis Existing System

There are many websites for knowing the information about the travel agencies. Few of these are travelyaari.com, redbus.in, yatra.com, makemytrip.com.Almost all the websites show information about the travels. Some websites even have customized Google search.

Need for the New System

Before we could start the actual development we wanted to know different website we found that most of the information displayed about travel agency was outdated. Most of the common problems we found are: Website not well maintained. o Dead links o Lack of back links o Less user friendly

Website displayed outdated or incomplete information.

Objective of the New System

Every system must have some objectives or goals that are needed to be fulfilled by considering all the activities. The major objectives of the system are: To provide with as much accurate information as possible about travels. To reduce manual work for assessment of available seats. To reduce time for assessment of available seats. Automation to improve present system and quality of information. To enable online customers to inquire, book or cancel the ticket to avoid distance barrier.

Fact Finding Technique

Survey of other website: As there were similar software present at the time of developing the e travel agency, it was necessary to see the others available product in the market. So we first took the survey of all the possible other website we could find. It helps to know about drawbacks and work on it so that it should not be ours too. Taking survey of other surely helped us to know what could be the pitfalls and we worked on it.

Proposed System
The final system should have User friendly, simple and attractive. Contact maintenance Advance booking or cancellation

The Phase 1 for me in the project is to understand the exact requirement of the company. What they exactly expect from this application. In this phase I had to consider 3important processes as such: 1st is the process takes place and the details required for the online travel agencies. 2nd is the one availed by the cutomer, if any. 3rd one is the combination required by the system in the company.

In the next phase, i.e. 2nd Phase, Basic database was confirmed. The number of tables required, the different fields to be included in each of these tables, their data types etc. By this each process is converted into small pieces diagrammatically to understand the Flow of the data and information.

Once this flow is confirmed by the Guide, The next step was taken. The Phase 3rd where the integration of those processes was to be done. The tables created were placed in sequence to confirm the flow and further design was done. The expected design of output reports was also done in this phase. The transactions within the system were crucial which was done with the help of Windows Service Application as per the guidelines given by the mentor.

Requirement Analysis

Requirement Analysis

Feasibility Study
It is always essential to evaluate various aspects before we develop a system. Evaluation should always justify the cost and benefit ratio. Once the nature of the system to be developed was studied, it was time to take stock of our own resources whether the development would be feasible or not. Some of the points of scrutiny are as follows.

Economic Feasibility
This evaluation looks at the financial aspect of the project. It determines whether the investment needed to implement the system will be recovered. The cost benefit analysis is the common method in the evaluation of the system. As the hardware and software required for development is already available, the only cost involved is that implementing the system.

Technical Feasibility The evaluation determines whether the technology needed for the proposed system is available and how this technology can be integrated within the organization. It is covered following points: o Compatibility of other software tools and future enhancement. o Availability of software tools. o Operating time and support facilities. The company is well equipped with hardware and software. Also the company is also equipped with technology that took care of management of

information system and was capable enough to provide support for development of software for travel agency. Hence the system is technically feasible.

Operational Feasibility

Operational feasibility covers two aspects. One is technical performance and other is acceptance. Technical performance includes issues such as determine whether the system can provide the right information, at right place and time to the organization personnel. Acceptance revolves around the current system and its personnel. The main users of the system are people in business group.

Research Analysis

Research Analysis
Research in common parlance refers to a search for knowledge. Once can also define research as a scientific and systematic search for pertinent information on a specific topic. In fact, research is an art of scientific investigation. The Advanced Learners Dictionary of Current English lays down the meaning of research as a careful investigation or inquiry specially through search for new facts in any branch of knowledge. OBJECTIVES OF RESEARCH The purpose of research is to discover answers to questions through the application of scientific procedures. The main aim of research is to find out the truth which is hidden and which has not been discovered as yet. Though each research study has its own specific purpose, we may think of research objectives as falling into a number of following broad groupings: 1. To gain familiarity with a phenomenon or to achieve new insights into it (studies with this object in view are termed as exploratory or formulative research studies); 2. To portray accurately the characteristics of a particular individual, situation or a group (studies with this object in view are known as descriptive research studies); 3. To determine the frequency with which something occurs or with which it is associated with something else (studies with this object in view are known as diagnostic research studies); 4. To test a hypothesis of a causal relationship between variables (such studies are known as hypothesis-testing research studies). On the basis of objective of the project for developing e-travel website fact finding techniques were implemented. The website is been developed for facilitating the bus ticket booking and providing information to customer and travel agent. Website will be equipped with separate login for customer as well as travel agent.

TYPES OF RESEARCH The basic types of research are as follows: (i) Descriptive vs. Analytical: Descriptive research includes surveys and fact-finding enquiries of different kinds. The major purpose of descriptive research is description of the state of affairs as it exists at present. In analytical research, on the other hand, the researcher has to use facts or information already available, and analyze these to make a critical evaluation of the material. (ii) Applied vs. Fundamental: Research can either be applied (or action) research or fundamental (to basic or pure) research. Applied research aims at finding a solution for an immediate problem facing a society or an industrial/business organisation, whereas fundamental research is mainly concerned with generalisations and with the formulation of a theory. (iii) Quantitative vs. Qualitative: Quantitative research is based on the measurement of quantity or amount. It is applicable to phenomena that can be expressed in terms of quantity. Qualitative research, on the other hand, is concerned with qualitative phenomenon, i.e., phenomena relating to or involving quality or kind. (iv) Conceptual vs. Empirical: Conceptual research is that related to some abstract idea(s) or theory. It is generally used by philosophers and thinkers to develop new concepts or to reinterpret existing ones. On the other hand, empirical research relies on experience or observation alone, often without due regard for system and theory. It is data-based research, coming up with conclusions which are capable of being verified by observation or experiment. COLLECTION OF DATA In dealing with any real life problem it is often found that data at hand are inadequate, and hence, it becomes necessary to collect data that are appropriate. There are several ways of collecting the appropriate data which differ considerably in context of money costs, time and other resources at the disposal of the researcher.

At this stage of Research Analysis, Collected Data undergo into process of analysis and then information is fetched from the data. Fetched information is then used to find out the answers of some questions which help in constructing the final architecting the proposed website.

There were two kinds of data which is analyzed. 1) Primary Data 2) Secondary Data

PRIMARY DATA
Data collected or observed directly from first-hand experience is primary data. In this research, two methods were used to collect primary data.

a) Conducting Survey

Survey was conducted with a set of questionnaire to take the idea of the market and customer about the e-travel websites. This survey is conducted on working professionals, college students, other people.

Sample Size- 200 Survey Location - Mumbai

On the basis of collected data through questioner (refer Pg. no. for Questioner ), we came to the conclusion about the user review towards E-Travel sites.

User satisfaction

When asked about the user satisfaction with the current websites the response was positive and they were happy with it as these types of websites save their time which they save by not travelling to the travel agent. 88% were satisfied with websites 12% were dissatisfied with websites

Reasons of Dissatisfaction

When asked about the reasons of dissatisfaction, very few reasons came as outcome. Sometimes show no results Take a lot of time to revert the information Sometimes information provided on information doesnt match with the current status.

Reasons of satisfaction

When asked about the reasons of satisfaction, the response was positive towards the technology and website. It is very useful for booking bus ticket just from your desktop It saves a lot of travelling time It gives them the facility to take overview of all the buses which are available for specified route It gives them the facility to book the seat by choice. Pick-up points and timings are given on the website

b) Survey of available websites Its very important to know the competitors and there product. So to know
the competitors Ive browsed and used their websites and then I found some unevenness.

Websites is useful and capable of providing booking of bus ticket Some of the information on the website is incomplete or not update from long time Some of them have dead links which lead to nowhere Information doesnt match the real schedule No. of dead links which lead to no where Not at all user friendly It takes a lot of time to load the page and to show the fetched information Additional information regarding buses are missing Total time of journey is displayed wrong

SECONDARY DATA

Secondary data is the data that have been already collected by and readily available from other sources. Magazines, websites, blog, printable material can be used as a secondary data. For this project I have collected information from internet about travel agencies and e-travel websites. There I got to know about the benefits and scope of these websites and technology. Ive visited www.Trak.in which is an Indian business blog where I got some information about Travel E-Commerce in India. IRCTC continues to top the list of travel e-commerce websites with 7.7 million visitors which is understood since rail transport is indeed the most commonly used mode in India. Moreover, IRCTC has launched a flight booking service this year which should further boost the numbers for IRCTC should the service pick up. MakemyTrip enjoys the second spot but is way below IRCTC with close to 2.4 million visits. This could be understood from the fact that the target customer base for air tickets is considerably smaller. However, with Bus ticketing and the newly launched Rail Ticketing launched, Makemytrip would be aiming at eating a significant share from IRCTC.

According to the report, the visits to travel sites in India has grown to over 14 million in April this year leading to a 50% increase as compared to last year.

Conclusion and Future Scope

Conclusion

The quality and reliability of the any software application or a website depends upon the result phase of system development. The quality of the system includes the modularity, user friendliness, maintainability etc. As far as the system is concerned, the developers have tried to make the system design as user friendly as possible where after development even a layman can easily browse the website and finding the required data faster. Result of the Project:

1. Project has met its objectives

Provides accurate information about travels. Reduced manual work for assessment of available seats. Reduced time for assessment of available seats. Automation improved present system and quality of information. Enabled online customers to enquire, book or cancel the ticket to avoid inconvenience.

2. The project also showed the important role played in attracting Customers
As the deployment of web application was flawless many existing customers became loyal customers & recommended this website other people. It proved a ray of hope in darkness.
