John Wickson Thomas

John Wickson Thomas, 74, former chief attorney for the San
Francisco office of the Atomic Energy Commission, died Sunday
in Berkeley after a long illness.

Mr. Thomas joined the legal staff of the AEC in 1948. At the time
of his retirement in 1973, he was chief counsel in charge of San
Francisco operations.

A native of Berkeley, Mr. Thomas was in 1933 Phi Beta Kappa


graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and in 1936
graduate of Boalt Hall law school.

A fourth-generation Californian, Mr. Thomas was the son of John


Hudson Thomas a Bay Area architect.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche Agnew Thomas of Berkeley:


S.; seven children, Susan Thomas at Berkeley, Robert Agnew of
Palo Alto, Katherine Agnew of Berkeley, Nancy Toombs of New
York City, Patricia Burns at Berkeley, Stephanie Agnew of Oakland
and Deborah Housen of Bremerton, Washington., and seven
grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the First


Congregational Church of Berkeley, 2345 Channing Way.
