WELCOME
Hello and a warm welcome to the third MagicFest.
This year we have brought to Edinburgh magic to set your heart fluttering! Come see beautiful imagery, stunning special effects and engrossing stories live on stage, that make 3D movies seem flat and conventional. Last year we were delighted to be listed in the Sunday Times as one of the top family days out in the UK. This year we welcome performers from France, Germany, Portugal, Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Ukraine and around the UK with stunning skills and talents that will totally take your breath away. In response to last years sell-out Magic and Variety Gala Opening night, there will be an afternoon Gala preview, giving you the opportunity to see many of the worlds finest magicians for just 10. We are also introducing a brand new workshop for kids ages 11-14 who want to spend time with a professional magician to enhance their skills and learn some new magical effects The Street Magic Master Class. We have a love of the beautiful and the mysterious and we look forward to welcoming you into this magical word where anything is possible. See you soon and catch the magic this year at MagicFest 2012. Kevin McMahon Artistic Director

An unavoidable trip into an imaginary world

Jrme Helfenstein, Claude Brun

Two characters, who meet by sheer chance on a deserted railway platform, unexpectedly discover a strange key. They now have a first class ticket for an unavoidable trip into another world; an imaginary place where everything is possible... Sometimes clowns, sometimes magicians and sometimes jugglers. One is rather crazy, the other rational, a bit melancholy but often humorous, the two men improvise and weave the fabric of a show which at the heart remains circus, fairground arts, the illusion of shadow theatre... and absurdity! These amazing French artists create the comic escapades of their fantasy with consummate skill - to the delight of young and old aboard a train, a boat, an aircraft, even a rocket ... So 'all aboard' for a trip with Voyageurs Egars!

Fringe Guru

Lewis Barlow's multi-award winning and astonishing close-up magic has earned him an international reputation amongst magicians. After studying and performing magic for over twenty years, Lewis' appearance at MagicFest is not to be missed. It includes his latest and most astonishing magical effects, from psychological manipulation to extraordinary card control. You will not have seen such phenomenal magic at such closerange before. Whether or not you believe in real magic, this is likely to be as close as you can get.

Recent incarnations of this mythical detective have elevated his deductive powers to an almost supernatural level. This year, Colin will replicate his remarkable skills - live on stage. Colin will attempt to reveal everything about you, find hidden objects, memorise vast amounts of information rapidly and even solve a murder which will be devised by you, the audience! It begs the question ... is it deduction, intuition or just sheer luck?
