TechnologyEnvironmentEvaluationStackhouseCollege Demographics:StackhouseCollege Foundedin1967,StackhouseCollegehasgrownfromalocallybasedcollegeof400studentsto adynamicandinnovativeinstitutionwithover17,000fulltimeand35,000continuingeducation students.Therearecurrently110,000Stackhousealumni.Stackhouseisanationallyand internationallyrecognizedforexcellenceinbusiness,digitalmediaandcommunications, performingarts,visualartsanddesign,appliedcomputingandtelecommunications,engineering andmanufacturingsciences,andcommunityservicestudies. IcurrentlyworkinContinuingEducation,sooutofthose35,000student.66%arefemaleand 34%aremale.Thehighestagebracketisbetween2534yearsold.70%englishistheirfirst language,3%isfrenchand27%isother.19%arearecentimmigranttoCanada.69%are employedfulltime.ThemainreasonsfortakingContinuingEducationclassesare,lookingfora job,improvinginmycurrentcareer,preparingforcareerchange,seekingcredittowardsafull timeprogram,personaldevelopment,orpursuingahobby/interest. Summary/Reflection WhenIstartedthisprojectIhadafeelingthatmycollegewasaheadofthegameonsomany fronts,butIknewsomeoftheissuesthattheywerefacingaswell.Withinthenext5years StackhouseCollegewouldliketotransitiontoauniversity.Withthatchange,manytechnology andstaffingchangeswillneedtobemet.Iknowtherearemoreandmorefulltimefacultybeing hired,thatIamhopingpossessmoreonlineexperience.Ifindwithsomeofourissueswith technologyitseemstostemfromthemoreseasonedfacultythatbelieveanonlineclasscanstill beabunchofpowerpointslidesandbeverysuccessful.Withthischangewillcome communicationandtrainingtowhatisavailablenow,Iknowthatmanyofourfacultyarejustnot awareofallthetoolsoutthereavailabletothemtomaketheironlineclasssuccessful. Thisassignmentswasaneyeopenertome,toseewhatwearedoingrightandwhatwecan stillimproveon.OverallStackhouseCollegeisaIntelligentcollegethatjustneedstoimprove theircommunicationandgetmorepeopleinvolvedinplanning.
