(TE 223) What route does the map show for Marco Polos journey? (After reading pg. 225) TE 224- What did Christopher Columbus want to do? (TE 224) Columbus thought he reached Asia, but where had he really gone? (TE 224) What does the map on pg. 224 show? 5. CLOSURE: Discuss the two statements in the Review and Assess section TE 225 F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? To measure students understanding I will have them write a response to the question: Write a way that Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus were alike and a way they were different. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Students will be able to show the importance national landmarks, and explain how they create a sense of community among citizens. As both of these explores marked our community forever. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest part to teach will be following the study guide, as we have worked with it in the prior lesson. Students will be familiar with it. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the most challenging part to teach will not having actual artifacts to show the students, like 3D model of a boat for example. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? As an extension to this lesson I would use Extend Lesson (pg. 226-227) about a magnetic compass that Christopher Columbus used to the Atlantic Ocean. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For my students that dont grasp the concepts, I will use Re teach Mini lesson TE 225. I would work with them in a small group to fill out the three boxes. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I think having some artifacts to show the students while conducting this lesson plan will get them more engaged. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part for me was deciding if students should complete a worksheet for the assessment or answer two questions which are more relevant to what they

learned. By having the students answer the question in their own words, gives me more of an understanding of what theyve learned or what they are still having trouble understanding.
